Jeff Beck's residency at London's Ronnie Scotts was a the highlight of my year. So I am thrilled he is at last releasing a live album "JEFF BECK Performing This Week... Live At Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club". it is due on 10th November.

This will be the first release for his new label, Eagle. I am hoping that a dvd will follow as the shows were filmed.

"An absolutely jaw-dropping display of the most exciting, imaginative and inspirational jazz-rock guitar witnessed in years." - Jazzwise

"Perhaps the greatest living guitar virtuoso...Combining astonishing technique with a blissful nuance he exercised an almost supernatural control of his fretboard." - The Times - 4 Stars

Jeff Beck is a true rock legend. From his time with the Yardbirds in the sixties, through the Jeff Beck Group and throughout his solo career his unique guitar style and constant desire to explore new musical areas and sounds has won him the admiration of his peers and the adoration of legions of fans. In 2007 Jeff Beck performed a series of concerts at the renowned Ronnie Scott's club in London. They became the must have ticket of the year with a packed audience every night of the famous and the fans. This CD features performances recorded across the different nights and presents the best version of each track.

Best news I've heard this week. I heard a "gray area" live recording - these shows were smokin.

Hats off to Jeff Beck for playing a small venue, something you wouldn't expect from many of his contemporaries.

Anyone been to Ronnie Scott's since its refurbishment? I understand it's very pricey these days. It's been years since I was there: I remember it as dark, smokey, cheap, and sounded great. Saw many a jazzbo type there.

Last I visited Ronnie Scott's must have been some time this decade. It has kept its cozy atmosphere. Best jazz club I've ever been to. I saw Art Blakey there, among others.

I was lucky enough to go to four of the six shows Jeff did at Ronnie Scotts and I have to say I was very impressed with the venue's refurbishment. The club was starting to get pretty seedy in my opinion, and was in need of a face lift. I know some people miss the old place, but the refurb has not ruined the atmosphere at all. Yes, it is more expensive, as is the food, but the quality is far superior. The famous stage has not moved. And lets not forget that Jimi Hendrix made his last public appearance here with Eric Burdon and War, not to mention all the jazz greats that also graced that stage. A lot of music history!

As GoogaMooga says, it was pretty amazing that Jeff played there. i know Jeff loves the venue as well as Soho, Bar Italia being one of his favourite haunts.

Its interesting that none of the special guests he invited (Josh Stone - she fluffed her lines, The Big Town Playboys - always excellent, Eric Clapton - say no more, Imogen Heap - amazing vocals and gorgeous to boot!) are on the cd. Maybe they will be on the dvd?

A dvd from this series of shows is apparently due out Nov.10. This from a pretty reliable Beck fan site.

yes, thats great news, but it would appear that it has no extras. I should not be complaining I guess, as a live Jeff beck dvd is a rarity!

Linda,
That's great news on the domestic release. It saves money and helps me to squeeze more out of my November. Thanks.

Got this today - a truly astounding release! HIGHLY recommended if you're into that sort of thing.
