The negativity toward the '89 Batman and the recent positivity toward Daredevil has me curious on which is more popular 'round here.

Gah, this one is difficult.

One one hand, DD is a terrible movie, but I don't give a crap about Daredevil. Batman is a better movie, but I absolutely hate it as an adaptation.

A tie.

Daredevil (Director's Cut). I might have voted the other way if it were up against Batman Returns.

BATMAN. That one I could watch three times, at least.

A very flawed movie. However, as someone observed correctly in the DD DIRECTORS CUT thread, the only good scenes in the DD movie were scenes oh-so-obviously cribbed from the comics.

Very close, but I liked the look and the performances better in Batman.

DAREDEVIL was, In My Opinion™, caca doodie poopie. BATMAN was flawed, but still the better film.

Batman was a great movie for its time. Made a lot of people try the comics. Doesn't hold up so well, but at the time. DD never was as good or had that impact.

Was Daredevil really THAT bad? Batman was good at the time, but doesn't really hold up as well.

No it wasn't that bad. Yes Batman doesn't hold up as well. Especially with the knox scenes.

Yes.

No, it wasn't Ghost Rider/Catwoman/Batman and Robin (The Unholy Trinity) bad. But it was still a pretty wretched movie.

Also, Ghost Rider was fun.

I need to watch DD again, I didn't mind it much... despite the flaws. Never did see Catwoman (and I won't) or Ghost Rider (I'd watch it on TV).

Catwoman was all sorts of lousy. Although oddly because it was hyped as so lousy it wasn't quite as lousy as I thought it'd be.

GR is a definite B movie with A level special effects. The demons from Hell are Emo losers. It's definitely not great. But I thought it was kinda fun. My wife actually liked it a lot better than me for some reason.

The only modern (post-Blade) comic book films that I hate or refuse to see are Ghost Rider, Elektra, Punisher, and Catwoman (haven't seen). None of them are even in the same ballpark as Batman and Robin. And Daredevil, even with it's flaws, isn't in the same ballpark as any of those films.

Fixed to apply to me.

I really thought Punisher was good. My wife has seen it like 5-6 times. I have to emphasize how rare that it. She also loves Grease and Saturday Night Fever but I think that's a coincidence ;)

I've had no interest in Elektra. the only one I haven't seen. I dont like the comics or movie character or Garner. But I would see it. I don't refuse to see anything ;)

Superman Returns is a misunderstood masterpiece.

Except for Superman not hitting anyone. That was lame.

Okay, now Superman Returns sucked donkey ass. DD was better by far.

It's pretty good

I retrospect, the pacings a bit off. and they should have let Routhe play Superman his way instead of telling him to give an impression of Chris Reeve doing Superman.

The biggest problem is in many ways it is a remake of the first movie. and Superman needs a physical challenege. We've seen Luthor too much. Show the impact of two superhumans battling in a city with modern effects. (to some extent Hulk did that). and show Superman horrified at said impact. That'd be like Superman II but it could be handled with more depth.
