I recently picked up this very interesting book entitled [lilred]Queen: Complete Works[/lilred].

It's a encyclopedia of Queen's albums (group and solo), songs, tours & videos. There's an entry for each album and song, with background info and critical analysis. I don't agree with the author's take on Jazz (he thinks it was a step back for the band and not a great album), but the book is great reading and interesting for Queen fans.

It's been out since April and I devoured it rather quickly. :ohyes:

[bigred]Queen, 2nd Ed. (Limited Edition Hardcover)
Rex Collections Series[/bigred]
[lilred]by Ray Tedman[/lilred]

Singer Farrokh Bulsara—better known as Freddie Mercury, bassist John Deacon, guitarist Brian May, and drummer Roger Taylor became, from 1971, collectively known as [title]Queen[/title]. Clashing together an outrageously eclectic set of influences, the band found a winning formula. The visual style of the band meant that they were a constant target for rock's elite photographers. The seemingly endless string of hit singles and albums was tragically cut short by Mercury's death in 1991, but the fans' fascination with the band has never waned. This new hardback edition features outstanding images taken from the archives of the UK's largest picture library of show business and the performing arts.

[bigred]Freddie And Me: A Coming-Of-Age (Bohemian) Rhapsody[/bigred]
[lilred]by Mike Dawson[/lilred]
[lilred]May 27, 2008[/lilred]

Book Description
High Fidelity meets Wayne’s World in this utterly charming graphic memoir about a young man’s life-long obsession with the rock band Queen.

All of us have had that one band with which we identify, the band that was always there for us during good times and bad. For Mike Dawson it's always been Queen and Freddie Mercury. Not unlike “Bohemian Rhapsody,” Freddie & Me takes readers on a rock-opera-like journey—from Mike’s childhood in the UK, through high school in New Jersey, and into the nineties, when grunge ruled the day and Queen was terminally uncool. As Mike works to navigate the trials and tribulations that accompany the road to adulthood (with Queen behind him every step of the way), he must grapple with the fears we all find ourselves facing: committing to one person for the rest of our lives, pursuing our dream job, coming to terms with our familial responsibilities, and even facing our own mortality. With humor, sensitivity, and some wonderfully imagined appearances by Freddie Mercury, Brian May, George Michael, and Andrew Ridgeley (among others), Freddie & Me is a touching reminder of how our favorite music is the soundtrack for so many of our most important memories and moments. And how one note can bring them all flooding back.

About the Author
Mike Dawson, born in 1975, immigrated to the United States from the UK in 1986. In 2002 he began the critically acclaimed humor comic-book series Gabagool!, and was nominated for the Ignatz award for Promising New Talent. Mike’s comics have appeared in a number of popular anthologies. He lives with his wife in Brooklyn.

Thanks again for posting the above Amazwan link Linda.

Mike Dawson is a friend of mine and puts out some great books. The preview mini-comic that he put out prior to the completion of Freddy and Me was awesome, so I have no qualms about recommending the finished book.

If you're at MoCCA or SPX in Bethesda this year, be sure to pick up a copy from Mike.

[bigred]Bang!: The Complete History Of The Universe (Hardcover)[/bigred]
[lilred]by Brian May, Patrick Moore and Chris Lintott[/lilred]
[lilred]April 10, 2008[/lilred]

Product Description
Who knows what Brian May was thinking when he wrote "We Will Rock You" for Queen? As a lifelong astrophysics aficionado, he may have been thinking about the origins of the universe. He's certainly been thinking about it lately. May, a freshly minted astrophysics Ph.D., joins forces with legendary astronomer Patrick Moore and astrophysicist Chris Lintott in Bang! to consider the history of the universe from the Big Bang to Heat Death.

Space, time, and matter were birthed 13.7 billion years ago and will continue on longer than we are able to comprehend. Infinitesimally small at first, the Universe is immense and ever expanding. Bang! explains how it all started, takes you on a tour of what is known about the evolution of the Universe, and posits how the end of time will come about.

This fascinating book includes photographs, short biographies of key figures, an at-a-glance timeline, a glossary of terms, and suggested resources for further exploration.

Based on the work of history's most brilliant scientific minds, this amazing story features clear, straightforward discussions of the most perplexing and compelling aspects of existence -- from the formation of stars, planets, and other galactic bodies to black holes, quasars, anti-matter, and dark matter to the emergence of life and the possibility that it could exist elsewhere.

Pick up a copy of Bang! It will, it will rock you.

About the Author
Brian May is the founding guitarist of the rock band Queen and a longtime astrophysics enthusiast. He recently was awarded a Ph.D. in the field by the University of London. He is the host of The Sky at Night, the author of more than 70 astronomy books, and the co-founder and former president of the Society for Popular Astronomy. Chris Lintott is an astrophysicist who specializes in star formation.
