The play Jersey Boys begins with a French version of December 1963 (Oh What A Night) which is then referred to in the dialogue as a #1 hit in France in (I believe) 2002. Does anyone have any idea who performed that hit and where I might find a copy?
David,
There have been two French cover versions of "December 1963". The first was done by
Claude Francois in 1976 under the title "Cette Année-Là" ~ it's available on his best-of collection:

The other was a dance version done in 2000 by
Yannick under the title "Ces Soirées-Là", which is on this album:

(I haven't seen Jersey Boys so I don't know which version they performed. The dance/disco version by Yannick is the one that was a hit in 2002, but they might have been mixing it up with the Francois version from the '76 which is a lot more faithful to the sound of the original Seasons version.)
