    Description
    John Mellencamp to release live album and documentary titled: The Good Samaritan Tour. The documentary, which will be narrated by Academy Award winner Matthew McConaughey, chronicles Mellencamp's historic free tour in 2000 when he performed on street corners and in public parks across the country. The new music is just one of many new projects Mellencamp has been working on including original plays, paintings and more.

    Curious to see this doc. We walked down to see him when he showed up here. Hard to hear w/the traffic but it was a very cool thing to experience.

    I'd like to see a live album from the The Lonesome Jubilee tour. He was at his peak then. I'm sure there's nothing from the vaults on that.

    i was once a huge mellencamp fan, but his voice (due to cigarettes i'm sure) has just gotten to the point where i have a hard time listening to him anymore.

    Yeah, his latter output isn't what it was. Not bad, but not the same.

    I did manage to see him on his first tour back in 1979 and then again in 1991.

    Yeah, his Tom Waits voices and somber low key songs is quite a change. It's still "good," but his last several albums have been almost monotone in that style and sound.
