These recordings were originally released as a very limited 3CD set by the Elvis specialist label FTD in 2012, which sold out immediately. Now the same tracks are being put into general release as a new box set from Sony Legacy:

Oh man. Thank you Linda. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. You've made my day. I didn't get this when it was initially released and I've had search up on Ebay for quite a while looking for a price something short of $300. It never happened. Thank goodness I can buy a new one now at reasonable price.

Do you know if the book that came with the set will also be included?

All the pre-army Elvis is excellent and even the King Creole soundtrack...other than that perhaps his first releases after the army and his 69 comeback. After that each release is spotty - some goood - some bad. What we have here is his BEST work. This is a MUST purchase.

It's not up at Amazon USA yet, so we don't know what the domestic price is going to be, but the box has already been reduced at Amazon UK down to £24.23 (24% off):

The book with the original 12 x 12 box was about 500 pages and weighed ten pounds. This book is fewer pages, and the box itself appears smaller, so I'm guessing that it's an edited version of the original book, although the text in the original book is in this gigantic font that could probably easily withstand being shrunk to standard 8-point CD booklet-sized fine print.

And, I believe, one extra track (on this new set) is the only difference, track-listing wise. I have the FTD, so I'll pass.

Oh. Ok Linda. Thanks, I think that I'll leave this just in case there isn't a domestic release. They're certainly taking their time if there is to be one.

Wow, current price $40! What was the list price of the original FTD release? I think it was around $200 - but, of course, the mammoth book would have been a factor in the price.
