The Complete Original Album Collection

Image

Description
Originally released on the small White Whale label, the Turtles' original albums have remained stubbornly out of print for many years, leaving fans with various greatest-hits collections that only scratched the surface of the band's deep and rewarding catalog. That situation changes on August 19, 2016, when the Turtles' label FloEdCo, in association with Manifesto Records, celebrates the band's 50th anniversary with the release of a pair of definitive CD packages that encompass, for the first time, the whole of the Turtles' recorded output from 1965 to 1970. The Complete Original Albums Collection is a six-CD box set of the six albums that the Turtles released between 1965 to 1970, plus a wealth of rare bonus material. Each of the band's first three albums - It Ain't Me Babe, You Baby and Happy Together - is presented in it's original mono and stereo mixes, while each of the remaining three - The Turtles Present the Battle of the Bands, Turtle Soup and Wooden Head - provide a generous assortment of rare bonus tracks, including some previously unreleased material.

All The Singles

Image

Description
The two-CD All the Singles collects the A and B sides of every original 1965-1970 Turtles 45, with the tracks presented in the same mono or stereo mixes that were heard on the original singles. All the Singles also features several tracks that were prepared for singles release but not issued at the time. Both sets have been meticulously researched and prepared from the original master tapes by renowned engineer Bill Inglot, and both contain detailed liner notes by noted writer and archivist Andrew Sandoval. The resulting packages offer a unique insight into one of rock's most misunderstood bands.

Would love to get just the Battle of the Bands disc, not the other albums... Would love an improved-sounding single disc of hits... Missed opportunity.

I bought a number of Turtles reissues on the Laserlight label years ago at Tower. They were inexpensive, but went OOP in no time. I think they all had bonus tracks.

But I'm in for these, absolutely.

The Laserlight Turtle CDs were all just budget comps. The original albums were re-released by Sundazed with bonus tracks. I have been on a Turtles run lately- last year I picked up a few of the Laserlight and Sundazed CDs, as well as a sealed original LP of Turtle Soup and my wife just gave me the vinyl reissue of Happy Together and a CD 2-fer of the first two Flo and Eddie albums for Father's Day and I have really enjoyed them so I would love to get a box set of all their albums. I don't think time has been fair to the Turtles. They were really a great band and are really only known for a couple of singles. Hopefully with a comprehensive release like this people will be able to re-evaluate their body of work.

I missed the Repertoires and only bought the Sundazed Battle of the Bands back in the day..........so this is going to be perfect for me.

I have the Repertories and they are pretty good. I believe they even have bonus tracks but will need to go to the archives to verify.

They do........a lot more bonus tracks than Sundazed......but OOP to a point that I wouldn't pay for them.

Agree, found them used for $8.00 a piece if I recall. I stole them.

I compared all of the bonus tracks that are included with the Repertoires with these new releases, and between the complete albums and the singles collection, all of them are included except one, and that one is on the Crossfires disc from Sundazed.

I never went beyond Greatest Hits for the Turtles and the six set is too much for me to change that now.
I do like the look of the Singles set.

i would love to have this, but the price is a little steep, and 'pure zinc" is a pretty darn good 2 CD comp.

The listings have gone dormant, but they'll be back. The box set and singles collection haven't been cancelled.

I bought "All The Singles" first, in order to see if I wanted to spring for "The Albums Collection."

These are, beyond any kind of doubt whatsoever and by far, the best sounding Turtles recordings I have ever heard.

Next up: The Albums Collection.

Like I just bought that Original Album Series set for The Association, a similar artist to me...

'manifesto' is the label for both the US and UK release, it is probably an import, thus the high price. but i agree, most of these are in the $15 - $25 range, and some went as low as $10 at barnes & noble.

That's the waveform for "Happy Together." Or: DR measurements need to die.

This is a weird one. It was in my "to be played" pile. Listening to HT right now. The quiet parts sound fine, & there is a big difference between the loud & quiet parts. HOWEVER, The loud parts are extremely distorted; & that's on my extremely forgiving computer system. There are moments where it sounds like digitqal clipping (which means they turned the volume control to "11" & didn't use the limiter.

My guess is somehow the digital distortion (much more evil sounding than analog clipping; which is one of the reasons they limit/compress the loud cd's so badly) triggered the DR meter. She'd Rather Be With Me has the same issue, though it's a DR10. What a shame.
