No links yet, but these two titles are next in the Paul McCartney Archive Collection remaster series, scheduled for September 18th.

Great news. Hopefully these will be somewhat more substantial in terms of unreleased music than previous releases in this series. I'm not hopeful though.

This has to be the slowest reissue program of all time!!!
EDIT: Just to clarify, when I say "slowest reissue program" I mean a new label taking over the rights to an artists catalog. At the rate their going now it could take at another 5-7 years to get everything reissued. You would think they would hurry this up before CD's become extinct. And it's strange to see a major artist have so much of his catalog OOP for so long when there's no legal issues holding things up.
And yes, WB has neglected remastering about 80% of Fleetwood Mac's catalog. At least you can purchase Mirage, Tango and Live on HDtracks, but none of the Bob Welch era is remastered (and he was snubbed from the RnR HoF). Smh

I say "Fleetwood Mac". Where is "Tango In The Night" with the promised B-sides, "Mirage" and anything from the Bob Welch era?
As for the McCartney reissue, there is a lot of content here. The books themselves are really well done.

Fleetwood Mac's catalog is largely in print, Paul's isn't.
That said, this is insane. Additionally I'm sure there are casual/new fans who would buy a comp and right now, that's not really possible. For all the talk of bands who have endless amounts of collections, that isn't the case with McCartney.

Didn't realize Wingspan was out of print. That's probably all the McCartney I need, and it looks like used copies aren't too outrageous just yet. (I bought it when it came out and still have it - I think it's a great collection). That said, if I really wanted any McCartney studio album it would be Tug of War. That's the only studio album I ever owned of his - still have my vinyl, but never had it on CD.

For me, Paul was done by Tug of War...but I also enjoyed Flowers in The Dirt and Off The Ground. I do enjoy all of his live albums also.

Yeah, these are generally considered companion albums in the same was as Revolver/Rubber Soul and 52nd Street/The Stranger, but I found Pipes of Peace to be the far inferior of the two. Along with Back to the Egg, Tug of War is an album I think of fondly and still return to play periodically, whereas I don't need to hear about half the songs on Pipes of Peace ever again.

At the time, Tug Of War was considered a return to form by many critics and fans. Contrarily, Pipes of Peace was slagged by critics, but the title track was a huge hit everywhere except the US. As Todd says, McCartney (at least) views them as companion albums, and I'm sure he's calling the shots on this reissue campaign.
I'm just hoping I can score the promo pressings to keep my streak intact.

I'm hoping the single edit of "Take It Away" will be a bonus track. The one on Wingspan doesn't sound very good.

I'm just hoping I can score the promo pressings to keep my streak intact. Well, they're both George Martin productions and they both follow the same formula with big name guest stars and some duets. While PoP is the lesser of the two, it has some good moments and interesting team-ups. Still, by the next album, the disappointing Give My Regards to Broad Street soundtrack, the last of the Martin productions, Macca gave up the album by committee formula and worked with the same set of musicians through much of the album, with Ringo Starr on some tracks.

The best thing about Give My Regards is the David Gilmour guitar solo on No More Lonely Nights. Otherwise...

Paul had the start to a really great album with "No More Lonely Nights", "No Values" and "Not Such A Boy". Unfortunately the rest of the album is filled out with needless and similar remakes of then-recent songs as well as lousy Beatle remakes.

I've always liked "Tug of War" very much and thought it was one of Paul's stronger albums, and it didn't seem to suffer from any really lyrically weak songs, though "Ebony and Ivory" is very fluffy. This, "Ram," and "Wings Over America" are the albums of his I listen to the most.
I've never owned or even heard most of "Pipes of Peace," but think "Say, Say, Say" is a great track. Did he write this song himself, or was it a collaboration with Michael Jackson?

"Eleanor's Dream," the instrumental, is the only track on there that I don't like. (And it's "Not Such A Bad Boy.")
