Product Description
Tell 'Em I'm Gone is the first new Yusuf album to be released since 2009's acclaimed Roadsinger. Recorded all over the world, including Los Angeles, Dubai, Brussels, and London, the album features 10 brand-new studio recordings, including five originals and five carefully-chosen cover songs. Tell 'Em I'm Gone features musical contributions from Richard Thompson, blues harmonica legend Charlie Musselwhite, singer-songwriter Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, Tuareg group Tinariwen, and guitarist Matt Sweeney. The album was produced by Yusuf, with Rick Rubin also producing select tracks.

Each track on Tell 'Em I'm Gone revives the age-old themes of freedom and peace that have prevailed through more than four decades of Yusuf's musical career. On this album, Yusuf returns to the roots of his teenage musical inspiration: American blues and R&B, using these genres to explore humanity's climb to freedom with songs that recall the spirit of his earliest days as a nascent singer-songwriter in London.

Stunning originals like "I Was Raised In Babylon" and "Cat And The Dog Trap" plus covers of American standards ("Big Boss Man," "You Are My Sunshine") and a moving version of Edgar Winter's "Dying To Live" find Yusuf as strong of voice and as engaging a performer as ever before.

1. I Was Raised In Babylon
2. Big Boss Man
3. Dying To Live
4. You Are My Sunshine
5. Editing Floor Blues
6. Cat And The Dog Trap
7. Gold Digger
8. The Devil Came From Kansas
9. Tell 'Em I'm Gone
10. Doors

He was so great at the R&R HOF induction ceremony that I've jumped on the pre-order in hopes of landing tickets for the NYC show at the Beacon. Only 5 shows currently listed at Ticketmaster: Boston, NY, Chicago, SF, and LA.

Already pre-ordered mine and got my special code from Amazon for concert tickets. I know it's a longshot that I'll get tickets but I needed to try.

I'd like to see him play live and I'm not afraid to travel somewhat for concerts (Hell, I'm going to London to see Kate Bush), but the closest show to me is Chicago, which is 6 hours away, so I doubt I'll go to this show. You folks in the big cities are luckier than us in the hinterlands.

The prices for the Beacon Theater show are pretty steep.....$96 to $258. I'm undecided, but the $96 will have to be available.

Lately I've been paying a fortune for concerts.....Steely Dan $150 X2 (my wife attended), King Crimson $150, Allan Holdsworth $95, Fleetwood Mac $150 X2 (as my wife is going too).

$258 for Cat Stevens at the Beacon! Wait a minute, didn't he give all his money away when he converted to be a Muslim. I guess he decided that was not such a good move, at least the money part.

Yeah, but you have been working major OT all summer long. Go for experience and the life long memories.

Does anyone know where the preorder for the Cat Stevens show at The Beacon Theater is? The Ticketmaster page for that event doesn't exist anymore. It just says "Sorry, but this event no longer exists in our database." It's also not listed at the Beacon Theater website. I know it's a longshot that the code I received for preordering his new album will actually help me get tickets but I want to at least have a shot. I believe they pre-sales for all US shows are supposed to take place tomorrow &/or Thursday.

In LA, our tickets are through AXS. Did you check that site?

Sorry about that. Just looked and it doesn't look like Beacon is there

It's cancelled.
The Boston date is now on December 7th.

Requoted from Farcebook..............
Quote:
"Unfortunately I will not be performing in NYC this time around but I am looking forward to playing for fans in Philadelphia on December 4 and hope to return to NYC at a future date. My fans will understand and I thank them for informing me about the extortionate tickets prices already being listed on some websites. I have been a longtime supporter of paperless tickets to my shows worldwide and avoiding scalpers. Unfortunately NY has a state law that requires all tickets sold for shows in NYC to be paper, enabling them to be bought and sold at inflated prices. I'm sorry about not being able to now play in NYC but hope to find an opportunity that aligns with my support of this issue in the near future, God willing. Looks like the Peace Train is going to arrive at New York a little bit later than expected.” - Yusuf

Thanks for that info, Charles. That really sucks. I was extremely excited about the possibility of finally seeing him.

Me too. I had my Amazon code all ready, and I even verified my Ticketmaster password since I hadn't used that service in a long time. I was pumped up for this show.

I was talking to a friend at work today and turns out he is a big Cat Stevens fan and it turns out the Philly show went on sale this morning so he said go try but no luck.....tried for over an hour.
Maybe he should add a date now that NYC is a no go.

Ok I tried and failed for Philly (supposedly they sold out in 5 minutes) but my friend at work who is persistent tried for Boston and got 2 so I'm seeing Cat Stevens in December! Crazy.

My partner at work confirmed the plans today by getting a hotel room right in the theater district in Boston so we are all set for the December show. Never in a million years did I think I would see Cat Stevens. I remember playing his greatest hits ad nauseam in my room in the early 70s.
