Product Description
In November 1968, George Harrison released 'Wonderwall Music'. A soundtrack to an art film called 'Wonderwall' this predominantly Indian music collection was the first solo album to be released by a Beatle and also the first album on the newly formed Apple Records. George would continue to release albums on Apple (and EMI) through to 1975's soul-influenced 'Extra Texture (Read All About It)' touching on experimentalism with 'Electronic Sound', the magnificent triple album 'All Things Must Pass', the chart-topping 'Living In The Material World' and the, perhaps, less well-known 'Dark Horse'. This box brings all these eclectic albums together in one set that mirrors 2004's 'Dark Horse Years' box set and will contain a perfect bound book with a DVD. All albums have been remastered by Dhani Harrison and Paul Hicks and all will be packaged in high-quality card packs and all albums, apart from 'All Things Must Pass' and 'Living In The Material World' contain newly written notes by Kevin Howlett. The DVD contains a brand new, never before seen video which has been painstakingly overseen by Olivia Harrison and all packages contain new photos many never seen before.

Weren't some of the tunes that Splinter recorded GH titles or how about the tune Mo (Mo Ostin) - or was that all from the Dark Horse era? Also Sunshine Life For Me and Photograph from Ringo - those would make for interesting extras.

Sounds like this would be a nice fun collectible.

You need to count Wonderwall and Electronic Sound, not to mention Concert For Bangla Desh to get to 7 Apple titles.

I'd love to see this be a mini-LP collection, but that would ential a whole lot of packaging challenges.

"Mo" was from the Dark Horse years.

Will they have the guts to release live material from the Dark Horse tour? It wasn't that well received critically (and Flo & Eddie were brutal about it on Illegal, Immoral & Fattening), but the band had quality people and certainly there must be something they could salvage. Or hell, just release whatever they have and say that it has "historic" significance. As I believe it was the first major tour by an ex-Beatle (I'm still trying to figure out what Paul was doing with Wings prior to his US tour), that alone should justify it and quiet the sonic purists.

Well, they certainly have to include the studio 45 version of "Bangla-Desh" as well as the non-LP B-sides "Miss O'Dell" and "Deep Blue."

Paul and Wings were touring the UK by bus, popping up on college campuses offering to play instant concerts. Paul wanted that spontaneity and randomness that fame often takes away.

If I'm remembering this correctly, a couple of years ago Olivia announced that Apple would be releasing a show from the 1974 tour. Unfortunately, it never materialized.

I'm in for this box.

I would likely only be interested in the regular 70s studio albums that I'm missing.

Bump: We have a cover image and very provisional pre-order links in the first post now. The box will consist of 7CDs (newly remastered versions of George's Apple albums), a DVD of previously unseen video, and a photo book.

Supposedly will be out on September 19th, but the listings are still in flux -- the American one hasn't gone live yet, the Canadian one isn't up at all, and the UK has an incorrect date. Let's keep watch. (The CDs are also due to be released individually.)

Great, they are including the single "Bangla Desh".

I wonder why they reversed the order of the 3rd & 5th disc?

Bangla Desh - non-LP A side
Deep Blue - non-LP B side (Bangla Desh)
Miss O'Dell - non-LP B side (Give Me Love)
I Don't Care Anymore - non-LP B side (Ding Dong, Ding Ding)

Assuming the extra appearances of "Dark Horse" and "This Guitar (Can't Keep From Crying)" are distinct single edits or mixes.

I believe that "This Guitar (Can't Keep From Crying" is the Platinum Weird version that somehow made it out on the internet (don't believe any other place) sometime in the mid 2000s.

Great looking box, but odd they'd use a picture of Beatle George instead of Solo George.

Anyway, I've ordered! Thanks for the link, Linda!!

Packaging looks like mini-LPs. I wonder if they'll recreate the die-cut cover of Extra Texture, and how much of All Things Must Pass will be duplicated (inner sleeves and poster?)
