I have the "American Poet" which was recorded in Hempstead, NY 12 26 72. This 2 cd set looks like it would be a very nice addition. I agree with Tricky Kid, if I find a inexpensive copy I'll be in.

I think I was hit by the death of Lou Reed the way some people were hit by the deaths of Kurt Cobain or Jerry Garcia. Still can't quite believe he's gone.
I'll be buying this, although it's from a slightly weird period in his history. I'm hoping all sorts of stuff comes out of the vaults during the next year or two. A reissued "New York" would be great, as I've never really liked the sound of that album on cd. I'm hoping Laurie Anderson begins to "curate" his legacy in a way befitting someone of his talent. Fingers crossed.

Interesting observation and thoughts. I believe Laurie Anderson will do this. It will for the love her soulmate and husband. As for an Expanded "New York" I would buy it in a NY minute . That's my favorite studio album by Lou so I'm all in.

What I'd really be interested in is an expanded version of the Lou Reed Stand-Up Hour, otherwise known as Take No Prisoners. For some reason, I've gotten the impression that the existing release is an edited version of the shows. It wouldn't be for the music as such, but rather just for the opportunity to hear Lou rip into everyone one last time.

I'm toasted tired at the moment. Will try to post tomorrow. Short version is the arrangements significantly evolved as the tour progressed. Much of the tour was recorded, but it really bad bootleg sound quality. They are official releases though, & afaik, WGV is still selling mp3's of them.
