Product Description
Finally back in print! Second classic live performance from Lou Reed on Easy Action (the first being American Poet (EARS012)), this one is totally unreleased and not bootlegged before, combining key classic tracks from his previous solo albums Transformer, Berlin, Sally Can't Dance & Coney Island Baby. This is an FM Radio broadcast from Lou's 1976 Rock N Roll Heart Tour fully restored and remastered in 2006, presented in full colour glossy deluxe gatefold sleeve with shots of Lou from the tour and liner notes by Nina Antonia. Rock and Roll Heart was the seventh album by Lou Reed, released in 1976. It was his first album for Arista Records after record mogul Clive Davis reportedly rescued him from bankruptcy. 'A Sheltered Life' (included in this set) dates back to 1967, when the Velvet Underground recorded a demo of it (available on Peel Slowly and See). Michael Fonfara - keyboards, Bruce Yaw - bass, Marty Fogel - sax, Michael Suchorsky drums. Recorded at Civic Theatre, Akron, Ohio, October 23rd, 1976

I have the "American Poet" which was recorded in Hempstead, NY 12 26 72. This 2 cd set looks like it would be a very nice addition. I agree with Tricky Kid, if I find a inexpensive copy I'll be in.

I think I was hit by the death of Lou Reed the way some people were hit by the deaths of Kurt Cobain or Jerry Garcia. Still can't quite believe he's gone.

I'll be buying this, although it's from a slightly weird period in his history. I'm hoping all sorts of stuff comes out of the vaults during the next year or two. A reissued "New York" would be great, as I've never really liked the sound of that album on cd. I'm hoping Laurie Anderson begins to "curate" his legacy in a way befitting someone of his talent. Fingers crossed.

Interesting observation and thoughts. I believe Laurie Anderson will do this. It will for the love her soulmate and husband. As for an Expanded "New York" I would buy it in a NY minute  . That's my favorite studio album by Lou so I'm all in.

Warning: I thought American Poet was mediocre.

What I'd really be interested in is an expanded version of the Lou Reed Stand-Up Hour, otherwise known as Take No Prisoners. For some reason, I've gotten the impression that the existing release is an edited version of the shows. It wouldn't be for the music as such, but rather just for the opportunity to hear Lou rip into everyone one last time.

I feel fortunate to have bought about half the R&R Animal tour from WGV in lossless before they switched to MP3 only.

Tell us more about that tour and the material you were able to get? R&R Animal is one of my favorite live albums of all-time. It shreds!

I'm toasted tired at the moment. Will try to post tomorrow. Short version is the arrangements significantly evolved as the tour progressed. Much of the tour was recorded, but it really bad bootleg sound quality. They are official releases though, & afaik, WGV is still selling mp3's of them.

Any thoughts on sound quality, etc.? I haven't yet partaken of any of these grey market releases, but I'm tempted here...
