Peter O'Toole died today. So sad. I always enjoyed watching him on the big screen.

Thanks, Peter, and R.I.P.

I was trying to get an affordable DVD copy of Man of La Mancha recently.
Rest well, Sir.

Great actor who should have won an Oscar for Lawrence. He will be missed.

He was awesome. I love his performance in "Man of La Mancha."

See Venus if you haven't already. He should've finally won that Oscar.

What's the one word I would say about O'Toole's acting? Charisma. That's what is so infuriating about him losing the Best Actor Oscar to Gregory Peck. Peck was not a very expressive actor, and many people would call him "wooden." I don't think in his heydey, anybody ever called O'Toole wooden. If he had a weakness, it was the opposite----not only could O'Toole chew the scenery as well as anybody, but if he was not careful he could also chew the furniture and several of his fellow actors, as well.

I don't think I watched all of his Man of La Mancha because the film makes a HUGE mistake. The producers assumed that O'Toole should play Don Quixote and that the musical was in fact, about Don Quixote. The truth is that the musical is about Miguel de Cervantes who PLAYS his character throughout most of the show. The framing device that shows that the true setting is a 16th century Spanish dungeon ("a place I do not wish to remember") is NOT something that can be casually jetissoned from the movie.

The wife and I have My Favorite Year memorized.

I'm so sorry that Mr. O'Toole was placed in the worst parts of that Supergirl movie. He seemed to give it his best.

O'Toole could've given acting lessons to the rest of the cast of Troy. He classed up the whole production with his presence.

I thought he was great in the last movie I saw him in, Stardust and he was just dying in bed. He always added something, and it was a fun movie, besides.
