I am not that carried away with the sound on the new remaster of Then Play On CD, however it is an improvement on the Original CD version.
The original album was poorly recorded on what seems to be 4 track and also poorly mixed.
I agree, it seems like the album wasn't recorded or mixed very well. While the remastered CD isn't demo quality by any means, I think that's because of the source, and I do appreciate the improvement from the original CD, which I think is substantial.
I'm not expecting these LPs to blow me away sound-wise, but they should sound as good or better than original pressings, and from what I hear the box and sleeves are beautiful. Collector's stuff. I have a soft spot for this era , especially Then Play On and Future Games. And I'm on a major vinyl roll since I bought a new turntable a few months ago, so I decided I had to have this.
