Long out of print, FANDANGO joins the Herb Alpert Signature Collection from Shout! Factory. Originally released on the A&M label, FANDANGO was pressed on CD for a very short time, making it one of the rarer CD titles in the Alpert catalog.

Fandango is an incredible album and was one I used to play along with when I was first starting out on trumpet. I bought the CD about 20 years ago, but I'm sure this version will sound a lot better. According to Herb's nephew, Randy "Badazz" Alpert, he is part of a team digitizing Herb's music (everything from The Lonely Bull to now) from the original tapes and will be making it available over the Herb Alpert site in the near future. He said the new version of the Beyond album is amazing and better than the original LP. It appears that CD's will not be the main method of getting this music out, but it didn't sound totally out of the question in some instances. Also, Herb has recently recorded a brand-new solo album that they are excited about.

Harry is one of the moderators on the A&M Corner website. I check out the site occasionally, and he is definitely a Herb Alpert expert and diehard fan. Welcome, Harry!

I wish Randy would reissue the only album by Randyandy, his one-off project with Andy Armer. "The People Living In The U.S.A." is one of my favorite music videos ever.

Wow Kym, I never knew that. Hopefully I can find it on YouTube.

This is so appealling. I loved what Shout! did with the catlg afew years back BUT they didn't complete. I knew they offered downloads but passed. I will buy the CDs without hestitation.

Ditto. As I think someone mentioned a while back, it seems odd that they're making some of these Alpert albums available only as downloads, when the vast majority of Alpert fans are...shall we say, a bit more seasoned than your average digital downloader. I certainly prefer physical media -- especially when the download versions are crappy mp3s.

Today is release day for Herb Alpert's FANDANGO. Be sure to support the effort to get this out on CD by purchasing one, so that hopefully others will follow. The link I posted here when I started the thread became an erroneous one on Amazon. That link leads you to believe it's not out yet, but this other one:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ARX2W24/?tag=imwan-20

now seems to be Amazon's main listing for the disc. I think it was as ASIN number change that didn't get "cleaned-up." It would be nice if one could go to a store and pick this up, but those days seem long gone now.

I want to second this motion. I'm hoping if sales on Fandango are favorable, the Shout! Factory series will continue to be released on CD. I really want Beyond on disc! So buy early and buy often.

I checked Best Buy's store inventory for several nearby locations, and they don't appear to be carrying it.
