From Dotmusic/Yahoo UK:

Keane are to release a new EP and tour the UK's forests in summer 2010, it has been announced. The anthemic pop trio have confirmed plans for a collection of eight new songs, called "The Night Train". Written and recorded during their recent "Perfect Symmetry" global dates, two collaborations with Somali/Canadian rapper K'Naan are included. "I think those tracks show us in a completely different light", explained the band's frontman Tom Chaplin. "The Night Train" EP is due for release on May 3, 2010.

Billboard reports this is due for U.S. release now on May 11. The K'Naan collaborations are called "Stop for a Minute" and "Looking Back." Another collaborator is Japanese MC Tigarah on "Ishin Denshin (You've Got to Help Yourself)." A track called "Your Love" features songwriter/keyboardist Tim Rice-Oxley on lead vocals. This one's going to be pretty "out there," I suspect.

I'll definitely be getting this as I love these guys, especially at 7.99 from Best Buy (I'm a little scared of the K'Naan angle, though he is talented). But is this still considered a mini-LP, or is this close to full length?

Definitely a stop-gap release. It's a little over half an hour, and the first track is an instrumental nothing. Based on first listen, "Looking Back" is dreadful; the other six songs not too bad, although "Stop For a Minute" would certainly be better without K'Naan. Have given up trying to figure out why so many artists seem to equate rap with "relevance." Katy Perry, are you listening?

I like some of this, but why a rapper? I agree with David. Bands seem to think they're relevant by using a rapper in a song. When I hear the single "Stop For A Minute", I hear a great Keane song and a pointless rap in the middle that easily could've been edited out.
Many fans are not happy with this release overall and I can see why. There are a few strong songs, but overall it's forgettable. Aso, what is the deal with the J-Pop song? Awful.
