I hope they use the final gag from the audio play. The other Doctor's TARDIS was hilarious.

David Morrisey would be a good choice imo.

I say no way. It's another fakeout like the regeneration cliffhanger last season.

Yeah, that's what I think too. They will want to keep secret the new choice of doctor and keep us in suspense for as long as possible to draw bigger audience figures.

In shocking twist, David Morrisey will turn out to be the Sixteenth-or-so Doctor.

I'm pretty sure it's not. It's a quasi-adaptation of "The One Doctor" audio play in which
Spoiler: show
The Doctor meets a guy pretending to be The Doctor to scam people.

I was right then. I saw that 2 minute clip from C.I.N. and just the way this other "Doctor" was acting, my first thought was Stevens' info above. The guy almost broadcasted that turn of events, the way he acted the part in the clip.

I've been hearing rumors about The One Doctor thing since the last series ended. If true, that would make at least three stories that he adapted from the audio plays "Jubilee" got transformed into "Dalek", the Cyberman two-parter was adapted from a Peter Davison story (forget the name). Davies seems to be a big fan of the spin-off media stories.

'Spare Parts', although it was more a case of "inspired by" than "adapted from" - the only real similarity between the two stories was that they were both new takes on the origin of the Cybermen. To be honest, this year's 'Fires of Pompeii' had far more in common with the Pompeii-set (and uncredited) BF adventure 'The Fires Of Vulcan' than 'Rise of the Cybermen' did with 'Spare Parts'.

Looking at spin-off media, there was also the adaptation of Paul Cornell's Seventh Doctor novel 'Human Nature'. So far, that's the only instance where I think there was an arguable improvement on the source material in the TV version.

I'm really rather looking forward to 'The Next Doctor', despite having been deeply unimpressed by both the Season 4 finale and last year's Christmas Special. 'The One Doctor' is a splendid little story, and its tone, if not all the content, has the potential for an excellent adaptation.

While we're talking Who, I just want to add that the new girl on The Sarah Jane Adventures (Rani) is smokin' hot.
