On Saturday (February 3), KISS guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley filmed an interview for the "making of" section of his "Live to Win Live" DVD. This photo was taken in Paul's house during the interview. The live footage on the DVD was filmed in part at the House of Blues in Chicago on November 6.

Paul Stanley recently confirmed the details of his Australian solo tour, which is scheduled to take place in April. As was the case on Stanley's recent U.S. tour, the backing band for Paul's Australian trek will be the house band from the CBS-TV show "Rock Star". The group, comprised of Paul Mirkovich (keyboards), Jim McGorman (guitar), Rafael Moreira (lead guitar), Nate Morton (drums) and Sasha Krivstov (bass), appeared on the first season of the show, "Rock Star: INXS", as well as this year's "Rock Star: Supernova".

Stanley's new solo album, "Live to Win", came out on October 24 and sold just under 17,000 copies in the United States during its first week of release to land at position No. 53 of The Billboard 200 chart.

No actual DVD release date yet, but some fans at KISS conventions will get to see Paul Stanley's concert film of his solo tour from last year. Looks like we won't be seeing this DVD until next year by the looks of it.

Hmmm...the back of the box says this is his 'first-ever solo tour', but that's not right - he did a solo tour in 1989, I believe. Not in support of any release, but a solo tour.

You are correct, sir! Gene was off doing movies and KISS was on hiatus, so in early 1989, Herr Stanley did a solo tour. The drummer was Eric Singer, who later went on to be in KISS himself!

Thankfully not much stuff from that awful 2nd solo CD! I have a boot of a club show on this tour and it rocked.

Awful second solo cd? You mean Live To Win?
It wasn't the greatest cd, but it still rocked. It was a hell of a lot better than "Psycho Circus" and Gene's solo disc. I dug it and am actually surprised to hear someone knock it.

I downloaded it, played it once. Honestly I thought it was terrible. Certainly when compared to his 1st solo album. And I'm a fan -went to see him in Phantom of the Opera here in Toronto.
Just my humble opinion.....

You may need to give it more of a try. I would consider it more in the style of "Carnival of Souls" than anything else KISS has done (which I also dug).
To each his own, though.

I still don't understand why this is only a DVD release.What is the point of shooting the show with HD cameras and not giving it a Hi-Def release? I caught the Irving Plaza, NYC stop on this tour and it kicked ass! I would love to buy this but I will hold out for a Blu-Ray release.Maybe it will be broadcast on the RAVE hi-def channel soon.

Paul Stanley's backing band is the house band from the CBS-TV show "Rock Star" — Paul Mirkovich (keyboards), Jim McGorman (guitar), Rafael Moreira (lead guitar), Nate Morton (drums) and Sasha Krivstov (bass). They appeared on the first — and so far only — two seasons of the show: "Rock Star: INXS" and "Rock Star: Supernova".

"Live To Dream!" is an insider's glimpse into the creative process of Paul Stanley and his concert film titled "One Live Kiss", which was directed by filmmaker Louis Antonelli. The cameras shadow Antonelli as he works behind the scenes to capture Stanley's solo performance in Chicago. Stanley's back-up band for the tour is the house band featured on CBS-TV's "Rock Star".

"Live To Dream!" features interviews with Paul Stanley, Louis Antonelli, KISS manager Doc McGhee, band members Jimmy McGorman, Rafael Moreira and Nate Morton, as well as a dozen fans from the Chicago show.

I ordered a copy via BestBuy for $11.99 with free shipping. This one looks like a winner!

Curiously, the surround is DTS only. I've never seen this on any of Universal's other releases. Fine by me!

Paul seems energized by the new band and not having to go through his paces with the makeup, costumes, etc. He doesn't do the screaming between songs like he does with KISS.

It's great hearing Paul do obscure KISS songs like "Magic Touch" and "A Million To One." The backing band is great and this show proves that Paul doesn't need pyrotechnics and fancy staging to give one hell of a show. I wish Paul would pursue more solo touring rather than the tired KISS shows. But I imagine those pay a lot better.

Pity he did no shows in the New England area.

I hope he does another album sometime soon and plays in New England.

My copy is finally shipping from Bestbuy. I'll give a review when I get it.
