And it is going to be awesome.

Here's the recipe (the simplest of about eight that I've collected and/or created over the years). I went with a pound of ground turkey and about 2/3 lb. of ground sirloin. I minced up a can of Filipino chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, and used Valentina "extra hot" sauce.

Quote:
Chili

1 tbsp. vegetable/canola oil
1 medium-sized onion, chopped
1 tbsp. chopped/minced garlic
1½ lbs. ground turkey, chicken, or beef
3 tbsp. chili powder
¾ tsp. cumin
1 tsp. black pepper
28-30 oz. tomato sauce
3-5 hot peppers (chili, jalapeño, habañero, etc.), chopped
your favorite hot sauce, to taste
paprika and oregano, to taste

Heat oil in medium-to large stockpot (or Crock Pot) at medium heat. Add onion and garlic; sauté until soft.

Add ground meat; sauté until browned. Drain excess liquid; add all remaining ingredients.

Cover; simmer on the lowest heat possible for 6-8 hours. Serves 8.

Should be ready to go in an hour or two. Anybody want to come over?

Sounds great, Sisko. Even without the broccoli. :ohyes:

Thanks, Weird Alien Girl. You can bring your own broccoli to mix in if you want.

I put shredded carrots in my turkey chili.
But, I would certainly give yours a try.

I would think that would make it too sweet. Lots of natural sugars in carrots.

I don't much care for garlic either.
Many have told me that that is a sin, or close to it.
Sorry.

I don't use the kidney beans that my grandmother favored, but I do put in my fair share
of either the smaller chili beans or black beans.

There will never, ever be beans in any chili that I make. Or eat.

Would you like to take a survey? Do you eat beans? Would you like to see a new movie starring George Wendt?

It's not that garlic is bad. All it takes is a little garlic for me to taste it.
People I know who use it, though, overdose on it.

I like a lot of Garlic. I don't, however, like that much spice.

I don't know, Frank. Without beans, it sounds more like you're making spaghetti sauce.
Maybe over some pasta or with some fresh bread?
