Web only release. The whole album is streaming live.I can't get the song "Strange Overtones" out of my head! Check it out: http://www.everythingthathappens.comBrian Eno and I recently finished our first collaboration in about 30 years. The name of the new record is Everything That Happens Will Happen Today. For the most part, Brian did the music and I wrote some tunes, words and sang. It's familiar but completely new as well. We're pretty excited. The album is available exclusively from this Web site. You can stream all of the songs for free and purchase it in a variety of digital and physical formats, including a limited edition Deluxe Package designed by Sagmeister Inc. All formats can be downloaded immediately and physical CDs will be shipped in the Fall. David Byrne Midtown

http://www.nme.com/news/david-byrne/38490 David Byrne and Brian Eno join forces on new album
Jul 28, 2008
David Byrne and Brian Eno have revealed the details of their first collaboration in nearly 30 years.
The singer and the legendary Coldplay and U2 producer, who worked together on three Talking Heads albums as well as 1981's 'My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts', will self-release the new album 'Everything That Happens Will Happen Today'. It is due out on August 18 via their own website.
The site currently features a video of Byrne discussing the collaboration in which he says, "I just finished a record with Brian Eno. He did most of the music and I wrote the lyrics and did the singing and we're really happy with it."
Fans can also sign up to receive a free download of one of the songs on August 4.
They've also announced a handful of US tour dates to support the new album:
Newport News, VA Ferguson Center for the Arts (September 18) Atlanta, GA Chastain Park Amphitheatre (20) Austin, TX Zilker Park -Austin City Limits Festival (26) Phoenix, AZ Orpheum Theatre (30) San Diego, CA Humphreys Concerts by the Bay (October 2) Santa Barbara, CA Arlington Theatre (4)

I Pre-Ordered the Deluxe Edition because of its unique packaging and the 4 bonus tracks. You are supposed get an immediate download of the CD in 320kbs MP3 and FLAC files plus an arty screensaver in a media bundle. When I downloaded the bundle and unzipped the files, there were only MP3 files. The screensaver refused to unzip without a password,so that was useless as well (MP3 sucks at any rate).I contacted Topspin media and have yet to hear from them.I don't understand why it is so tough for these media companies to get it right.I am disgusted with the situation over at Dead.net with the Rhino full show downloads, and the Gov't Mule Muletracks shows I have downloaded have given me decoding problems as well.It seem that any FREE torrents that I have snatched of live shows have rarley given me trouble and when they do, another fan fixes the issues and re-posts the files almost immediately.Maybe these idiots at for profit sites could learn some lessons from real music fans!

Checked out the streaming version on their website. Wow. Loved it on the first listen. It's really lush and buoyant, and Byrne sounds as good as ever. This is really strong work.

Just an update regarding the download issue for this release. After a second email, I received a response with a new download link for the FLAC files.I downloaded them, converted them to .wav with FLAC Frontend and then burned them to CD-R to listen to it in the car.I also transfered it into i-tunes and put a couple of the stand out tracks on my iPod with no problem. The files are apparently DRM free.Since I only transfer .wav files to the iPod,I cannot report if there would be any problems in converting them to any "lossy" format (AAC,MP3,etc.).

That cover suggests Byrne has moved from PowerPoint to The Sims...

I'm going to catch David Byrne on his European tour next year. He's not billed with Eno, however, but I'll still go, never saw Byrne or Talking Heads live. Never saw Eno either, for that matter.

Never saw Eno either, for that matter. Well, Eno didn't play these shows. It was Byrne playing the songs of Byrne and Eno. I saw the Santa Barbara show and it was incredible, although it didn't strictly stay with that format since he played My Big Hands (Fall Through the Cracks) and Burning Down the House. And as great as the show was, it made me miss the Heads once again as I would have loved to hear their musicianship on the classic Heads songs

It is hard to believe that the Talking Heads will not reunite and tour once again. That would be some concert to see.

If anyone is thinking about buying the Deluxe Edition of this release, don't bother. It is not worth the price. In fact it is an absolute rip off.It was shipped a month later than promised and the pakaging is defective.TopSpin media have yet to answer multiple email's.If their work on the McCartney release is this bad,It will be my last purchase.

David Byrne Tour Chronicled in DocRide, Rise, Roar immortalizes the "Songs of David Byrne and Brian Eno" tour http://pitchfork.com/news/38016-david-b ... ed-in-doc/ In 2008, David Byrne launched an ambitious tour called "The Songs of David Byrne and Brian Eno", which centered around the duo's stunning album Everything That Happens Will Happen Today, as well as past material the pair had worked on together, Talking Heads and otherwise. Eno didn't join the tour, but a troupe of modern dancers did. Now Slicing Up Eyeballs points out that director David Hillman Curtis has turned the tour into a concert documentary called Ride, Rise, Roar, which will premiere next month at SXSW in Austin. Anybody who's seen Stop Making Sense knows that building a documentary around David Byrne's onstage antics is not a bad idea. You can watch the movie's trailer here. The film include footage of the shows and the rehearsals, as well as behind-the-scenes stuff. (And yes, Eno does show up.) Check the film's blog for info on the three Austin screenings.
