Okay, so I was just sitting there playing games on my TV and it just turns off and won't come back on, I know nothing about TVs or what this could possibly mean, any one have any ideas?

Let me clarify, it makes some noise when I press the button like it's trying to come on, just like some weird sounds that the TV always made when coming on (a high pitch buzzing), but the on light and the picture don't come on.

Well, don't overlook the obvious. Check to see whether it's plugged in. Try the switch. If you're using a remote, make sure it's working and is set to the right device. I've mystified myself before by trying to turn on a TV set before I remembered that the remote was set for the cable box, not the TV.

Okay, so it does have power. Maybe it's the game box, then. The set is on, but the feed for the image isn't working. Have you checked to make sure everything is connected? You know how sometimes things look plugged in but aren't really in all the way.

Feel the back of it. Is it very hot?

An internal fuse could have gone or it may just be dead. One thing to try, which sometimes, but not often, works: unplug the television from the outlet entirely, let it sit for a bout a half an hour, plug it back in (ideally into an entirely different outlet), see if it powers back up.

If it's a tube T.V., the tube may have given up the ghost.

It's a CRT, brand is LXI, not sure about model number.

The screen is definitely not working, but it is powering on, I doubt it's the power supply, but who knows?

It's unplugged right now, I'll get back to you.

You should have gotten a surge protector.

If a girl with freakishly long black hair crawls through the screen at you, leave the room. She's up to no good.

What makes you think I don't have one?

Because I do.

Likely, but why would the power light not come on?

I don't really watch TV, but not being able to play Prince of Persia sucks.

I remember our family having a set that was about that vintage. It was in better shape than that one....
