Not sure what to tell you, as I hate Vista, but on my XP machines, running the Flash updater updates both Internet Explorer and Firefox at the same time.

Did you try starting the installation from this page from within Firefox?

I'd look for all the instances of the dll and get rid of them, then try again.

the only thing that worked for me was to install the flash plugin and copy:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\NPSWF32.dll

to this directory:

C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins

restart firefox and check installed plugins by browsing to about:plugins

Do you have a 64 bit operating system or a 32 bit one? Last I heard Firefox hadn't yet got it working for the 64 bit version.(been a coupla months since I checked) I use Opera for my 64 bit vista(although it is a 32 bit browser,so I guess they have the same problem)

I can never get Flash to work with Firefox. I use an extension so I can view pages in Internet Explorer, so I do that.

You're doing it wrong, then. I've never had any trouble at all, even on Linux. :) I won't argue that someone could have a problem like the one described in this thread, as obviously glitches happen, but it's most likely in your case that you're doing something (or not doing something) basic.

I've played around with a number of plug-ins on Firefox, Flash is the only one that doesn't work immediately after installing it. Back when I first switched over, I spent a fair amount of time trying to figure out the problem and have since given up on it. Fresh installs of Windows XP and Firefox were even done at one time (on a brand spanking new hard drive). Same problem before and after install.

What are you doing? You download the installer, run it, and it just works, at least for me, on many, many installs by now. It's not the same installer as for IE. Are you sure you're getting the right one?

All right. Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm going through them to see what works. Keep in kind, I am not a computer guy :) I'm the guy who kicks the hell out of his desk while getting frustrated when things don't work right. I expect much kicking.

Well ran the program to uninstall previous versions. Then I installed the latest. Now I can only use flash on Safari. IE won't anymore.

ok. When I go to a page with adobe stuff I get a message that says "Additional plugins are required to display all media on this page."

So, I click on Install and get a screen that searches for available plugins. It finds Adobe Flash player. I click Next to insall it.

I get this message:
No plugins were installed. Adobe Flash Player Not Available.

That's on Firefox. Now that IE is doing the same damn thing I am really lost.

Finally. This seems to have fixed it. At least for Firefox.

Thanks everyone.
