I just love this movie. I know it was a "bomb" I know it's trite.. love it. Kurt Russell's finest performance.

It's supposed to be in the same universe of Blade Runner. That's kinda cool.

I always imagined it took place in the Aliens universe....wanted to see Kurt go up against some of those beasties.

There are a few references to Blade Runner and other Philip K. Dick adaptations. There's a "spinner" vehicle seen in a junkyard. Kurt Russel's military history references the same battle at the Shoulder of Orion that Rutger Hauer talks about. However, there are also references to Aliens and Star Trek II, so you could just as easily say the movie takes place in those universes, too.

I never caught the references. I'm a fake fan. :(

This is what I thought you were talking about. It is one of my all time favorite shitty movies. I have seen it 50 times, thru high school and college.

I agree that it's an underrated film; I like it a lot. But THIS is Kurt Russell's finest performance.

I didn't say his best movie, I said his finest PERFORMANCE. In Soldier, I find myself feeling for him. What he was allowed to do was so limited, but you could see every emotion he was trying to suppress. I would say I LIKE Tombstone more, but that's more for Val Kilmer than Kurt Russell.

IAWTP, Soldier is a good enough movie that the GF likes it(trust me, she's picky). As for Tombstone, Val Kilmer had all the good lines, kinda like Bill Murray in the first Ghostbusters movie. :ohyes:
