Just curious as to how many people here like Miller and how many don't.

You know, I'm flat out stunned by Miller's post-2000 output. I'm was a massive Frank Miller fan and collected all things Miller. While I appreciate the goofy fun of his recent stuff, its just not even in the same league as hism old stuff.
That said, when I look at the enjoyment I've gotten from the Sin City books, Big Guy and Rusty, Daredevil, Batman (pre-DKSA), Give Me Liberty, 300 and some of the other odds and ends he's done, I really feel like Miller is just great overall. He's added a lot to my quality of life through the power of his work.

(Dragged in against my will once again.)
I'm not entirely sure how to vote here, since I love a lot of 80's Miller stuff (Daredevil, Batman) and couldn't give a damn about most of the other stuff that came after that. If we're going with "as a whole", I think I'd have to say no. Do I have that right?

You tell me. I'd say if you like less than 50% of his stuff, you'd probably fall into the "no" camp.

I'm not sure that I'm interested in counting up his numerous works and doing the math. Guess I'll just vote "no".

No for me also. It bothers me how his "empowered" women tend to also be whores. I mean they're drawn all slutty and stuff, and I can respect that, but they don't actually have to be whores do they?

Difficult question.
His Daredevil run, Born Again, YO and DKR are brilliant. Not just "OK" or "I really like them", but "Some Of The Best Comics Ever Written" brilliant.
Then again, Man WIthout Fear was mediocre, Sin City and 300 are meh and All-Star Batman is one of the worst craps ever published. DKSA is a guilty pleasure, though. Ronin was very good, too.
I guess I still would say yes. As mediocre as some of his input was, or as bad as ASB is, they are still outweighted by his former brilliance.

Or to put it another way, there are not many things as good as his DD, YO and DKSA, and as bad as ASB is, I still have read worse.

I really enjoy Man Without Fear and Sin City. Someday I want to read his original Daredevil run. I voted "yes."

I'm going to go with no. Other than his DD, Year One, and DKR (the latter two in my top 10 of all time greatest comics), I really don't care for his stuff, especially once you factor in the more recent work.

No. As I've said before, I really don't see what differentiates his "good" earlier stuff from his more recent efforts, except that the later ones are more over the top. It all has the same nasty worldview and ugly art.

I would say yes. His recent output hasn't been as good as his Daredevil, Sin City & DKR, but his good outweighs his mediocre or bad stuff IMHO.

No. I like almost all his DD stuff and almost nothing else. But I admit I haven't read or sampled most of his non Marvel/DC stufff. I never read Sin City. Did not like the movie. Never read 300. Liked the movie

His Daredevil run - Fantastic.
Dark Knight Returns - Epic.
Year One - Definitive.
Born Again - Stunning.
Ronin - Sublime.
First two Sin City arcs - Stellar.
Elektra graphic novel - All of the above.
300 - The movie was better.
DK2 - Crap on a stick
ASBR - Double crap on a stick.

Frank Miller tragically passed away some time after the first few Sin City miniseries came out.
He will be missed.

The Good: Daredevil - His initial run on the book, Born Again, Man Without Fear & even the Elektra:Assassin Mini(I don't know about the Love & War GN, I have yet to find a copy). Batman - Dark Knight Returns, Year One Sin City - I've liked all the Sin City yarns, although To Hell & Back: A Sin City Love Story wasn't the best of the bunch. Martha Washington - Give Me Liberty & Martha Washington Goes to War 300 - I liked it. Ronin - I discovered this after Dark Knight Returns, but it is stunning. Robocop Vs Terminator - I love this book, the Simonson artwork is incredible too. The Rest: Bad Boy - I loved the artwork by Bisley in this, but the story was so-so. Dark Knight Strikes Again - I don't know if having hand coloring the book would have helped it(probably not), but it wasn't as good as DKR. All Star Batman & Robin - The artwork has been the highlight of this for me, although in each issue you get a new catchphrase(Can't wait to use I'm the #&@*^$%^ Batgirl.....). Maybe when the whole 12 issues are out it'll make more sense........ Martha Washington Dies - At least I think that was the title, I haven't picked this up........ Hard Boiled - This one is tough, I liked it when it came out, but the last issue took forever to ship, it could have been the artists fault though.

Has anyone read the Terminator vs. Robocop book he did with Walt Simonson? I only found out about it recently.
