I went Zap because he tickles me, but if I had to be "serious", I'd go John Carter.

I voted Other. Because, you know. Kimball Kinnison, Gray Lensman.

Neo, Skywalker, Paul and even Han were propelled by fate and prophecy.
Sisko, Kirk and Zap signed up for adventure and so did Robocop (although not in the way he planned).
John Carter I don't know enough about.
That leaves Ripley. She was a freighter grunt who rose to the challenge and fought off the worst of the worst. A hero is one who does more than is expected of them, no matter the cost to themselves.

It's strange that Kirk and Sisko make the list, but not Picard, Archer or (to be completely fair about it) Janeway.

Captain Nemo. Anybody who can invent a nuclear reactor from scratch in the 19th century, and get it turned into a workable submarine, has got to be quite a scientist! He was also something of a humanitarian, though his unprovoked attacks on warships tend to push him into the antihero category.

Buck Rodgers is also a rather conspicuous omission. But the list could only be so long, I guess.

Like anyone on that list is even half as awesome as Kirk.

Kirk, followed by Han Solo. Sisko is only on the list because of our own Frank. No one actually cares about Benjamin Sisko.

I voted for Kirk for several reasons, but I almost voted for Sisko. He was awesome!
