[2008-11-25] The Yardbirds "The Story Of The Yardbirds" DVD (MVD)

KLIZ has shown today that MVD is going to release a DVD of The Yardbirds which purports to have live footage of Clapton, Beck and Page on it. It's due on November 11th. There's bonus footage of Page with them from Germany in 1967. Though MVD is a small outfit, I would think this particular DVD has some potentially pretty interesting stuff to offer. I'm going to likely spring for this one.

Great documentary covering 1963 until 1968 with tons of original tunes, archive convert footage, interviews with bandmates and associates and behind the scenes look at this influential but short lived Supergroup. Some Eric Clapton footage, lots from Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page. Two live songs with Eric Clapton and The Yardbirds are 'Louise' and 'I Wish You Would' from 1964. Bonus Footage: The Yardbirds with a very young Jimmy Page on guitar from German TV in association with APN/Frankfurt - recorded and filmed live on 31.03.1967.

This looks like the Yardbirds Atlantic Records Video release from about 10 or so years ago.

It's a doco video that covers the career of the band. Very well made.

Perhaps its a Australian release only ???

According to the above Amazon link, it's been "discontinued by the manufacturer" :sigh:

I should have pre-ordered it last week.

I wonder if Jimmy Page decided he didn't want it out? Let's still keep checking periodically to see if it gets pulled entirely off the Amazon listing.

I panicked and bought a copy through an England based Ebay Store seller. Other sites (CD Universe etc.) are still showing an 11/18 date....(Amazon, as of now, still says discontinued).

It's very well done - great that they were able Clapton, Beck and Page for interviews....amazing how much Jeff Beck looks like Nigel Tufnel (or vice versa) :ohyes:
