I hear crystal meth is all the rage these days.

There will come a point where you will just need to let go. No guilt, just be still and read or eat chocolate or sleep or lie on the grass or wrestle with the kids or go to a movie. Whatever you want to do. Don't numb yourself with alcohol. This is something you need to do sober.

And talk to your wife. Rejoice in her being with you. Get some alone time if you can - just the two of you. Tickle each others feet. Have breakfast in the middle of the afternoon. Read aloud to each other. Find that place inside that needs to laugh hysterically.

This has been a hard road for both of you. And the end really is in sight. You can make this last little bit.

What's wrong, Dave? Is it work schedule, or doing what you need to do to support your wife's treatment?

Yes. It's both. I'm at work now.. til 7 am. back at work the next three nights 7pm-7am. Then I get a break... I'm hoping I get some sleep my next break. I've been waking up about every hour and a half (looked it up, that's about every other rem cycle.) I don't remember what's waking me up, but logic says it's nightmares. So, with the recent good news, and upcoming break, I'm hoping to get rid of the raccoon look I'm sporting.

If anyone deserves some R&R, it's you. I hope your break is fun and restful.

I find once you get into that disruptive sleep cycle it self perpetuates. Sleeping somewhere other than the usual, or even reversing yourself on the bed is sometimes enough to alter it. Not getting enough sleep or enough good sleep is probably what is dragging you down.

I don't know how you do it. I could never be a day sleeper. I am barely a night sleeper. You have my extreme admiration! Hope your break is a good and restful one.

Years in the Navy taught me to sleep when I got the chance. This trouble is recent I'm sure I'll be ok, I just felt like whining a bit.

Oh, and my room is pitch black, even in the day, when I pull the curtains. It doesn't pay to hamstring yourself on these things. Buy the good blinds, and the thick curtains.

Or get one of those blindfold things that I've only seen on movies and TV.
