Which do you think is better:
Darwyn Cooke's Spirit run (first 12 or so?) 90%  90%  [ 10 ]
Aragones and Evanier's Spirit run (the issues since Cooke left) 9%  9%  [ 1 ]
Total votes : 11

I think there've been enough issues to judge the job Aragones and Evanier are doing on the Spirit monthly, compared to Darwyn Cooke's one year run to start the series off.

I like Aragones and Evanier better. I was close to dropping it, but they reeled me in.

What do you think?

No question for me. I gave Aragones and Evanier a try, but I dropped it.

I think you meant "Aragones and Evanier" :p

Aragones and Evanier are doing a great job, but I liked Cooke's stuff better.

Smitty's art is nice too.

I can't vote. I haven't read the Evanier books.

I'm looking forward to comments in here.

The Cooke stories are the only Spirit stories that I've ever purchased. (I've read a few Spirit books, but it's not my cup of tea.) I enjoyed the Cooke stories.

The Cooke issues were "can't miss" for me. I read the first three or four Aragones/Evanier issues, and even with Smitty, something wasn't clicking. I keep meaning to catch up and give it another shot, but haven't done so, yet.

I like Aragones and Cooke too. Mark Evanier likes Kirby too much. ;)

I would vote for Eisner, BUT THAT'S NOT A CHOICE. (Otherwise, we know who would win don't we.)

Anyways,....

It a joy to read Darwyn Cooke's stuff. I can't make it thru an Aragones and Evanier issue.

I didn't like Spirit/Batman (too rushed), but I liked the first several Cooke solo issues, a lot. Haven't read the Evanier run yet.

Spirit/Batman was written by Jeph Loeb, so that may have had something to do with it.

Did Cooke's Spirit win an Eisner? Or did I dream that....

I'm enjoying the current run, but I really liked the Cooke run too. Check back with me after issue 25........

The only issue I've read is a recent one, so I don't have a basis for comparison. I did like it, though. It seems like it captures at least some of the spirit of the old stories.

Just started reading Cooke's Spirit which I picked up for 10 books in a used book sale. So far so good but I would read anything that Cooke draws. His art is so frikkin beautiful and his women are amazing, beautiful, sexy but not Image Comics slutty. Cooke and Timm are perhaps my two favorites.

Looking back on this thread, I don't know if I went past issue 25...

I really enjoyed that whole series, regardless of writers or artists. Darwyn Cooke's books were particularly amazing, though.

I just didn't like the Cooke Spirit as much as I wanted to. I still have them all, and may re-read someday. The art style was perfect. The stories were flat for me for the most part.
