Do you know of any toddlers who actually speak like this? Mine didn't. My friends' kids didn't either.

I remember that Elliot Maggin "explained" this phenomenon in his first Superman novel, LAST SON OF KRYPTON. He said that even though Clark was absolutely brilliant, even as a two-year-old, he had an utter disdain for grammar and so spoke how he wanted.
And the answer is no. None of my kids ever spoke like that.

Almost as accurate as the hip black speak of those days.
Sweet Christmas!

Wasn't Superbaby actually the spawn of the Bizarro and Bizarro-Lois? I remember that story from Superman From the 30's to the 70's, and the kid is talking like, the Bizarro jive man.

Interesting. That's 3 comics variants of English identified in this thread:
Babyspeak
Bizarrospeak
Hopelesslyunhipteenspeak
Anyone come up with any others?

Believe it or not, I know an adult that talks like this...whenever he's talking to someone who doesn't speak English very well. A few times we've encountered people that, for whatever reason, didn't speak much English. So in his attempts to explain something to them as simply as possible, he would adopt this "baby/Hulk?indian-from-a-cheesy-western" type of language.
In telling the person how to get to the train station you'd get something like: "Me help get you to train station. You go 5 mile...FIVE MILES...that way. Right turn at end of road, blue sign. What time train leave for you? You not make train...Me drive you station, get train." Imagine all of the hand gestures and vocal inflections, and you'll see why I was around the corner holding my sides aas tears rushed down my face, trying not to just fall on the ground laughing.
I guess it comes from the same train (HAR!) of thought that "If they don't speak English, talk REALLY loud at them!".
