The Cure album postponed again

10.Aug.07 10:33pm

The release of the The Cure's 14th album has been postponed for a second time.

Originally due to be released in May, the release date got pushed back to October but it has now transpired it will not come out until April or May of 2008.

According to Reuters, Robert Smith is still recording material, and previously said he would like to release two versions of the album - a limited edition double-record which he would self-mix and a second CD mixed by another producer.

As of late last year, the band had recorded 33 songs but Smith was reportedly finding it hard to create lyrics for all the material

The Cure will tour North America in September and October.

2008 release, the 13th studio longplayer from the legendary Goth rockers led by Robert Smith. Now down to a quartet (Smith, Simon Gallup, Porl Thompson and Jason Cooper), the band continue to musically evolve while dealing with subjects like relationships, the material world, politics and religion. The songs on [title]4:13 Dream[/title] are stripped down and 'in your face' while also sounding very much like The Cure. Includes the singles 'The Only One', 'Freakshow', 'Sleep When I'm Dead' and 'The Perfect Boy.'

1. Underneath The Stars 6:17
2. The Only One 3:55
3. The Reasons Why 4:35
4. Freakshow 2:28
5. Sirensong 2:22
6. The Real Snow White 4:42
7. The Hungry Ghost 4:29
8. Switch 3:42
9. The Perfect Boy 3:21
10. This. Here And Now. With You 4:06
11. Sleep When I'm Dead 3:51

13. It's Over 4:17

They're playing MSG and Radio City on consecutive nights? Most unusual.

Hmmm. The Radio City Music Hall show seems kind of enticing, depending on the tickets.

The Cure to release new single each month

May 2, 2008

The Cure have announced that they will release a new single each month leading up to the release of their 13th studio album in September.

Robert Smith and co will drop the first single from the as-yet untitled album on May 13, and intend to release a different a- and b-side single on the thirteenth of each month until the album is released on September 13.

The first single, 'The Only One', includes the b-side 'NY Trip'. The second single, 'Freakshow' -- due out June 13 -- contains the b-side 'All Kinds Of Stuff'.

Both b-sides are exclusive to the singles and will not appear on the full-length album. They were produced by Smith and Keith Uddin.

The July 13 and August 13 singles will be announced shortly.

The band are set to kick off an extensive US tour in support of the new album beginning May 9, as previously reported.

Has anyone in ICE/IMWAN land picked this up yet? I completely missed the boat on this, and haven't seen a physical disc anywhere. Looks like I'll need to order it from AmazWAN.

According to the "News" section of the band's website, the title will now be 4:13 Dream.

I went there hoping to find news about the next set of deluxe editions, but nothing so far.

The Cure 'Dreams' On With New Album

August 29, 2008 , 11:50 AM ET
Jonathan Cohen, N.Y.

The Cure's long-in-the-works new album, "4:13 Dream," is slated for an Oct. 14 U.S. release via Suretone/Geffen. The set, which was first expected out in the summer of 2007, has been preceded by the release of singles on the 13th day of each of the past four months.

Those tracks -- "The Only One," "Freakshow," "Sleep When I'm Dead" and "The Perfect Boy" -- will also be the subject of a remix EP dubbed "Hypnagogic States" and due Sept. 13.

30 Seconds To Mars, AFI's Jade Puget, My Chemical Romance's Gerard Way, Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz and Patrick Stump and 65 Days Of Static handled the remixes, royalties from which will be donated to the Red Cross.

"Freakshow" and "The Only One" bounce with the effervescent energy of the band's pop hits, while more menacing tracks like "Sleep When I'm Dead" and "Baby Rag Dog Book" wield a rawer, guitar-driven gusto.

Now, frontman Robert Smith just has to finish piecing it all together. "I've gone through so many revisions, probably more than all of the other records put together," he says.

I've added the pre-order link for the album to the first post.

The Cure score four singles in US Top 20

Sep 9, 2008

The Cure have scored an impressive feat in the US this week, with four singles charting in the Billboard Top 20 single sales chart.

Four singles released over the last four months are currently in the Top 20 of the Billboard Hot Singles Sales chart: ‘Perfect Boy (Mix 13)’ is at Number Eight, ‘Sleep When I’m Dead (Mix 13)’ sits at Number 12, ‘Freakshow (Mix 13)’ scored the 13th position and ‘The Only One (Mix 13)’ attained the Number 18 spot.

An EP of remixes of these first four singles will be released digitally and on CD next week.

As previously reported, My Chemical Romance’s Gerard Way, Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz and Patrick Stump are among the acts who have contributed to the ‘Hypnagogic States’ remix EP, set to be released September 16.

All artist royalties from the EP will benefit the International Red Cross.

The Cure are currently gearing up for the release of their 13th studio album ‘4:13 Dream’, coming out October 14 via Suretone/Geffen Records.

The A-sides are, not the B-sides, and I think the album mixes will be different.

Top 20? You mean labels actually released 20 different CD singles this year?!?
