Nettwerk has been genius like at mining & reissuing her limited output & SCREWING the fans. The 2 new tracks on here are another example........

Here's hoping for a cd single...........

THIS is the kind of thing that iTunes is great for... get the couple tracks, screw Nettwerk for trying to sell us a whole new CD for 2 songs.

Of course, one other option would be for Sarah to make another CD of new songs.

And what's with the Prince spelling of the last track?

For all we know, Prince wrote that one. I'm still resisting ITunes, even though I have an account and did download a ITunes exclusive the Bird & the Bee EP. Hopefully, these 2 songs either turn up on a later album or CD single, or the comp shows up at yourmusic.com...

Yeah, but Sarah's a mom now and she chooses to release an album once every six years and spend the rest of her time raising her kid. Silly girl!!

I've been saying she needs a comp for awhile now, so I'll finally be able to buy a Sarah McLachlan CD.

At this point, Jimbo's eyes are popping, "What?"

This has been going on since Fumbling. My gripe isn't the time between albums, but Nettwerk's endless repackages that have just enough new for fans to feel the need to get them. In the early days there were also several Canadian only cd single & of course many of those b sides also ended up on compilations after I bought them.

At one time I was a member of her fan club at $25 per year, so I could have the "privilege" of buying the exclusive fan club cd singles. Even that ended up being a rip off, the singles became less & less exclusive over time & what rare tracks there were were mostly put on various compilations....

Ironically the one "ep" that is truly exclusive & really good is the "Live" cd that came out right after Solace; it's out of print........

Just saw this from Billboard:

The first Sarah McLachlan best-of, "Closer," will be released Oct. 7 via Arista. The 16-track set includes two new songs recorded with longtime producer Pierre Marchand, "U Want Me 2" and "Don't Give Up On Us."

Among the songs featured on "Closer" are the early hits "Possession" and "Good Enough," as well as "I Will Remember You," "Building a Mystery" and "Fallen."

An expanded version of "Closer" will also be available with a second disc of music, with details to be announced.

Now I'm curious about what that 2nd disc might include...

Heard "U Want Me 2" and initial impression is that it's a pretty non-remarkable mid-tempo track... some nice multi-tracked vocal work, but otherwise very much "yeah, we whipped this up just so we could have a new track for the hits compilation".

McLachlan, Husband Split; Music Ensues
PopEater / Wire Services

DETROIT (Sept. 11) - Hell hath no fury like a Canadian pop singer scorned. Sarah McLachlan not only announces that she and her husband of 11 years are splitting, but also takes the opportunity to plug two songs about the tumultuous times.

"U Want Me 2" and "Don't Give Up on Us" both appear on her upcoming greatest hits album Closer: The Best of Sarah McLachlan, which comes out Oct. 7 via Arista Records in both a single-disc version and a two-CD deluxe package.

"I'm separating from my husband, so these are the songs about that," McLachlan, 40, told Billboard.com.

McLachlan and her husband Ashwin Sood, who plays drums in her band, reside in Vancouver. They have two daughters, six-year-old India Ann Sushil and Taja Summer, 14 months.

"I wasn't planning on saying anything," McLachlan added, "but it's gonna come out at some point. I haven't said anything about it because I've been terrified to, but I figure ... there's no good time to say it, so I just said it."

McLachlan called the situation "pretty gross" but did not elaborate on reasons for the separation or the couple's future plans.

She described "U Want Me 2" as "about that really uncertain, confusing place at the end of a relationship when there's no communication or closure, everything's still up in the air and there's a lot of anger and sadness. It's sort of that working through 'How do we move forward ... with some dignity and grace."

"Don't Give Up," she said, is "pretty self-explanatory, basically just a plea to give it another chance and keep trying."

McLachlan wrote both songs with her longtime producer Pierre Marchand. The video for "U Want Me 2" premiered Wednesday on Amazon.com.

Sleeping With Your Bandmate? 'Really, Really Challenging'

The singer spoke to PopEater on Tuesday about her kids, Sood and the strain of living with someone you work so closely with.

"It's really, really challenging" she said. "I sort of feel like it's a blessing and a curse. It's been really great. I can say that parts of it have not been so good. We don't tend to come back at the end of the day and say, 'Hey, how was your day?' because we were in each others faces all day."

McLachlan is planning a series of TV appearances to promote "Closer," but when it comes to another full-length album and tour, fans will have to wait.

"My number one priority now is being a mother. I've worked hard for 20 years on this career and I want to have 40 more years being a musician and playing live," she told PopEater. "But the way I used to work and the amount of time I used to spend -- I can't do that with two small children. Some people do and that's fine."

Family priorities have pushed touring to the back of the line as well.

"The type of kids I have, my oldest anyway, she needs stablility. She needs to be home, she needs to be in school. That's what's best for her. And I'm fine with that. Just for myself -- I don't want to go on the road for 18 months."

How about another Lilith Fair? Can she entice the Indigo Girls' and Meredith Brooks' of the world to hit the road for another festival tour?

"Never say never. For many years it was just flat-out 'Nope. No, can't even think about it.' But the longer time passes, it doesn't seem like an impossibility."
