It looks creepy and scary.
Of course, if people just stayed away from the swamp... it would be no problem, but then there'd be no movie.

It was pretty bad the couple of times I watched it. One episode consisted mainly of Swamp Thing visiting his 12 year old friend and hiding in a closet when the kid's parents came home. It was still better than the Swamp Thing cartoon show, which had a theme song to the melody of "Wild Thing",
