http://www.nme.com/news/grace-jones/37750 Grace Jones to release first album in nearly two decades
Jun 30, 2008
Grace Jones will release an album of new material this October.
Released on October 29 and entitled 'Hurricane', the record will be the iconic star's first since she released 'Bulletproof Heart' in 1989.
Jones produced the new collection herself, alongside Ivor Guest. The record features guest appearances from Brian Eno and Sly And Robbie.
Jones recently (June 19) made a live comeback, playing a critically acclaimed set at Royal Festival Hall as part of the Massive Attack-curated Meltdown Festival.
After a twenty year musical hiatus, iconic singer, model, actress Grace Jones returns with her tenth album [title]Hurricane[/title]. Flamboyant, dramatic and always enthralling, Grace Jones has always pushed the boundaries - whether in music, film or fashion. With her musical output sometimes overlooked, this record sees her working with a whole raft of special producers (Sly and Robbie, Wally Badarou, Tricky, Brian Eno) who in turn highlight the extraordinary talent of a unique performer. Ladies and Gentlemen, Miss Grace Jones. Includes the singles 'Corporate Cannibal' and 'Williams' Blood'. 1. This Is 2. Williams' Blood 3. Corporate Cannibal 4. I'm Crying (Mother's Tears) 5. Well Well Well 6. Hurricane 7. Love You To Life 8. Sunset Sunrise 9. I thought her upcoming album was going to be called "Corporate Cannibal". According to several websites, Grace recorded two unreleased albums, "Black Marilyn" in 1994 and "Force of Nature" in 1998. Hope this one sees the light of day! Grace made some great straight-ahead disco albums, along with her classic reggae-soul-rock fusion classics, her work with Trevor Horn, and her terrific and underrated releases on Capitol "Inside Story" and "Bulletproof Heart".

Funnily enough, I just finished re-watching her in the Bond movie A View To A Kill. Worst Bond girl ever in terms of physical appeal.

Beavis and Buthead watching a Grace Jones video (paraphrasing):
"Isn't that that Manute Bol guy?"
"That's not Manute Bol--Manute Bol sings better than this!"

"That's not Manute Bol--Manute Bol sings better than this!" They probably shuddered in fear when they first saw her. I know I did.

Also, I wish her "One Man Show" released on VHS would come out on DVD! I haven't watched it in years, but from what I can recall, it was very groundbreaking for its time...

http://www.drownedinsound.com/articles/3560748 Grace Jones signs to Wall of Sound for Hurricane's release
by Mike Diver Posted: 30 Jun '08, 12:46
Grace Jones - pop icon of the '70s and '80s - has signed with Wall of Sound to release Hurricane, her first album since 1989's Bulletproof Heart.
That's her, pictured, signing on the line.
Hurricane will be released on October 27. News of the singer's new deal comes days after she performed at the Massive Attack-curated Meltdown Festival on London's Southbank; an in-attendance Samuel Strang commented (when asked a second ago for an opinion), "she was fucking fantastic".
Mark Jones, MD of Wall of Sound, said: "It's an absolute honour and privilege to be working with Grace. No one has inspired more people whatever race, sex, colour or creed to be who they want to be and so much more. Her new album will not only re-establish her as one of the world's most important artists but also introduce her to a new generation of music lovers."
Jones reportedly simply offered a "Grrrrr" when asked to comment on the new deal. She'll play the Secret Garden Party in Huntingdon on July 26.

"She also made some killer videos"
She sure did. After watching "One Man Show" (not officially on DVD yet), I've thought of her more as a performance artist than a singer. "One Man Show" still holds up today.

http://www.nme.com/news/grace-jones/40977Grace Jones documentary on the way
Nov 11, 2008
A documentary tracing the life of Grace Jones over the past "four or five" years is set to be released, the singer/actress has revealed.
The star, who released her latest album 'Hurricane' on November 3, told BBC 6music that British filmmaker Sophie Fiennes was behind the project, but admitted that a mammoth editing job was ahead of her before the film could be released.
"Sophie Fiennes has been following me around for the last four or five years," Jones said. "It's going to be at least nine months of editing, that's how much material we've got.
"It's a lot of performance, it's me in Jamaica, we had a family reunion and it's the making of the new record."
A release date for the documentary has yet to be revealed.
