You know what just made me have a chuckle right now? The thought of me at about the age of 7 or 8 and listening to Herman's Hermits outtakes and the vision of me scratching my head and going "Now just what is this stuff?" I could see the vision of me figuring it out eventually and then letting the collecting DNA of my inner self take over as I grew over time. Here I am at 46 all of these years later and I think I'm going to end up plinking down for a copy of this so that I can listen to the alternates and outtakes because this is my evolutionary state.. I find it interesting that this box is also being billed as a new mastering as well. Too bad the track listing isn't up at this current time. Once again, thanks for passing this along Linda.

Its a mixed bleesing these recent EMI Brit Invasion sets. Its the last ( and sometimes first) time these tracks will ever be available but they ALWAYS sound like pure stinking crap.

It's the last time they'll be available in physical format (and complete) from EMI, but EMI has been no-noising reissues at least since the Shadows 2-CD fatboy cased comp in 1990. Don't forget it was BGO, not EMI, that first reissued the Hollies' '60s back catalog on CD. So when EMI stops the reissues, and providing that they are willing to license their music to specialist labels, there are plenty of those that are more than willing to take a chance with Herman's Hermits, in fact Repertoire has reissued a couple of the later albums on CD for the first time.

There are already 4-5 different Herman's Hermits comps in the Archives, along with some of the Repertoire reissues. I'll wait and see if this box set shows up at 'Rama or elsewhere. (Hey, wasn't that a Zappa album--Rama or Elsewhere?) :D

Jimbo,
Do you think I should hold off on getting this? Word has swirled around at certain internet forums where Peter Noone has supposedly only given his sonic blessing of approval to one Herman's Hermits comp where he felt like there was justice done soundwise. It would just be nice to have something where some outtakes and alternates of some of their big songs would be on a comprehensive box. Hopefully, this is the case with this one. I'm actually kind of hoping that Noone or somebody from the Hermits camp who's still around had a hand in getting this upcoming box to be a least a little bit up to snuff.
I already have the ABKCO SACD hybrid. I have considered possibly investing in the Repertoire Blaze reissue in the past.
Concerning EMI stuff that has been reissued: I didn't think the expanded Truth album from Jeff Beck from a couple of years back sounded terribly bad compared to many other CD titles I've heard over the years. I don't know. My hearing may be a lot different from you guys because of my impairment.

I think I'm still siding on getting this anyway. It would be nice to have this with the outtakes and alternates. Plus, with how short Hermits albums were back in the day, I'm sure that the whole Blaze album (or at tleast the great majority of it) will be on this box. I do hope, however, that there will not be different track listings between the EMI International edition and the U.K. version.

But why(with the release date being less than a month away) is EMI so reluctant to reveal the song line-up on either the Herman's Hermits or Swinging Blue Jeans 4-CD box sets? Why all the secrecy?

I hope it's not as bright sounding at the EMI Gerry & The Pacemakers 4CD set. That one made my ears bleed. Heck, I'll probably get it anyway.... I'm sick.

I noticed the delay when I put in my order. I figured perhaps it was a typo.
