Did any of you catch this show on ABC Family this last Monday?
Maybe I missed the thread. It's fun—sort of a cross between The [British] Avengers,
Men in Black, and maybe a touch of Dudley DoRight. Plus, lots of comic and pop
cultural references.

Check it out.

Good. It's on again in 4 hours. I can watch it after the game. I liked the first episode.

Okay. Not as good as last week. Still, not bad. Some funny bits.
However, they're already moving it to another time slot next week.
Not a good sign.

I have a feeling that there is a reason that Wendy was chosen, and a little tidbit this week makes it more plausible.
Spoiler: show
Wendy's dad who she hasn't seen since she was 14 was the Middleman who trained the current one that is training Wendy.
Anyone else think this?

I don't know.
Spoiler: show
I think he'll definitely be a story element to come, though: either as a bad guy; a good trainer of Middle Men, as you suggest; or just as a reason to track down his murderer.
I think there's a lot to be said
for just accepting that Wendy was impressive under pressure.

"Ever hear of Robin the Boy Wonder?"

"Yeah, he sucks."

Ooookay.

Still I like the show so far. Not quite campy, but not totally serious either. I like the Middle Man and Dubby. They are both cast well. Her roommate is cool too.

Dubby and the Middle Man have a good rapport.
What i've truly liked about the show are the little things, like Dubby's expression in the car when
she decides which weapon she wants. Or that little bit last night where she made a gesture that
she wanted to keep the fur coat. Nice facial expressions.

She's got the right feeling. She looks like a gal you would catch in a comic shop, but who thinks 90% of the comic geeks are just that.

Episode #3: Another fine episode.
I laughed out loud a couple of times, especially when she worked all of the three things
she WAS NOT supposed to say into one exchange.

I just ordered the comic books for this series directly from Viper Comics. Probably second
editions, by now, but you never know. Looks like a complete collection is due out July 25th.
It is listed as a pre-order from AmazWAN for about half of what the single issues go for:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/0980238544/?tag=imwan-20

There are also trade paperback editions of each four issue series, but the pricing on the big
collected volume looks much better. I'll let you know how the comics are, but I suspect I
will like them since I like the series. It is possible though, that I'll like the series better since
I saw it first, and the like the actors.

MY fear is that I just looked over the summaries of the first four issues of the original mini
series and the second four-issue series, and that looks like it covers what was done in the first
three TV episodes. So, they must be just about out of source material. We'll see how well the
series holds up after that. There's a new episode on tonight and a new one is scheduled for
next week.

My bet is that they probably completed six episodes, hoping that they rated well enough to
gain a spot on next season's schedule. Here's hoping they did, and they do, and that they rock!

Episode #4 was okay. Since I already use the expressions Midnight-thirty and Noon-Thirty to mean 12:30,
Lacey's expression of "O' Dark-thirty" meaning the middle of the night will fit in nicely with my language.

Dub-Dub beating up the robot was also funny.

I have just finished reading the first eight issues of The Middle Man from Viper Comics.
These were two separate mini-series, and covered the material that eventually went into the
first two story lines of the TV Show. There were subtle differences to the dialog, but not much.
The issues are black and white, and feature decent-enough-but-not-outstanding artwork by Les
McClaine. Since I saw the TV show first, I can't help but picture these drawings as a poorer
knockoff of the show, even though they came first. Still, that having been said, I think this is
still a pretty good comic series. I would have purchased the third series as well, but, onlike
the first two, it was not serialized, and instead it was released directly as a trade paperback.

I'm not a fan of trades, so I'll just continue to watch the TV show instead.
But, if you do like trades and the "phone" book-sized comics repeats that are popular these
days, they have (or are about to release) a single volume collection for a decent price.

The season finale was this week, and they did a rip on Star Trek's Mirror Universe.
It was a little predictable (to me anyway), but I believe this is just because my inner
geek is in tune with the writer's geek.

This was a very fun series, and I wish more of you had watched it.

Hopefully, enough people watched it, and it will get at least another season.
It's a definite MUST BUY for me on DVD when it comes out.

I've watched the entire season (except this week's so far). I want to get it on DVD when they collect it. :)

Mark has good taste. :ohyes: I, too, will make the DVD purchase, hoping for extras,
and wanting to help support the series.
