Has anyone been watching this on the Discovery Channel? Great stuff. Real detailed look into the history of the NASA manned space missions. Great interviews with surviving Mercury and Apollo Astronauts, and many engineers and members of mission control. Some never before seen Hi-Def footage as well. Six parts, with the final two parts airing back to back tonight at 9 PM eastern time. The final two hours include the launching of the space shuttle program, and the Challenger disaster. Can't recommend this highly enough. http://dsc.discovery.com/tv/nasa/nasa.html

My dad worked for NASA during a lot of those years. I wanted to watch it and forgot. I'm Maria and I'm a NASAholic.

I've worn the coveted lanyard around my neck and gotten into Mission Control and have seen some pretty cool shit, over the years. Ditto for IMWAN's Own Jeramy Anderson.

The National Association of Rocketry has held its annual model rocket competition at the Houston Space Flight Center a few times, and I went to a couple of them there. I think it was the second time there that we got to tour Mission Control (since there wasn't a mission going one at the moment).

Shhh... my brother has worked for NASA and it's affiliates for the last 14 years, I think. Me, I still remember the first Moon landing. But, I'm not a NASAholic.

No Tang for you!
I remember watching the Apollo 11 land in the afternoon, and then staying up late to watch the moonwalk. My parents said, "I guess we'll let you stay up late and watch it all." I was still too young and polite to say, "What the hell? Why would you even consider sending me to bed while this is going on?!" but that's what I remember thinking. Crappy TV picture. Loved every minute. I was such a space geek as a child.

When I say I'm not a NASAholic, don't look at my NASA Mission patches. Ok?

I've got Apollo 13, From the Earth to the Moon, The Right Stuff, and In the Shadow of the Moon on DVDs, and last night I caught Space Race on BBC Prime, so I'm going to get that too.

It was a great series. I wish I could see more of that footage. The things they were able to accomplish then!
It must have been something to be around then, to see people land on the moon and give us our first looks at the Earth from outer space. I was only a baby, so I have no memories of that time.

When I was a kid, and people used to ask me what I wanted to be when i grew up, I always said Astronaut.
This series completely brought back that feeling of awe and wonder I had as a child.
I loved it.
From what I understand, the DVD has 4 more hours of bonus footage.
Looks like I'll be buying this.

I was the same. Heck, I think every boy in my first grade class wanted to be an astronaut.
