We just finished this Music Video for the Pussycat Dolls last Tuesday. Here's where it gets crazy. We shot it the previous Tuesday and Wednesday! So here's our crazy Schedule
June 3rd and 4th and into the morning of 5th - Shoot (where I get a scary electrical shock on set the first day) June 4th - Best light Telecine (transfer and simple color grade the film to video tape) 1st days shoot June 4th - Capture into Avid (Our Editing program) and breakdown (create subclips of each shot the camera took) the first day's footage June 5th - Re-Telecine (with Final Color grading) Day 1 and 2s total Footage June 5-6 36 - hour session of capturing all 4hr 45mins of footage and breaking it down to edit. Each of the 5 1hr tapes took about 3 hr's to layoff in Telecine. June 6 - Editing begins with first days original telecined footage while I load and reload boths days footage. June 6 - Partial edit sent out that has 90 of visual FX shots in it. June 7 - Power goes out at Editing suite and stays out for 18 hours June 7 - Editing system moved into spare room at FX house Editing continues June 8 - 1st Full edit is complete (Partial edit sent on 7th unchanges except a few non FX shots) June 9 - Edit Finally approved at 11am/Original Delivery Date in HD June 10 - HD delivery extended 1 day June 10 - Deliver HD master and given another 24 hours to tweak FX June 11- Final Delivery to Record Label June 13 - Premieres on MTV
And this is what we ended up with:
The Traffic Jam at the beginning was staged in a parking lot with green screen on the sides so we could composite in buildings.
