According to AICN
Quote:
We have reports that Stan Winston died last night...
Hey guys. Quint here with some absolutely horrible news. We had an unsubstantiated email come in about 20 minutes ago telling us that Stan Winston passed away last night. I couldn’t find any reference to it online at the AP wire, Variety, CNN or anywhere, so I figured it wasn’t true.

Then a second email came in, which made my heart drop into my stomach, a new person saying the same thing, without any backup. I asked for clarification and got it, so I got on the phone with a friend of mine who knows Winston and got the confirmation.

I haven't found anything to confirm it, but I'm hoping they're wrong.

Oh man.

If this is true, it's a tremendous loss.

He thought he had found love in Julie, he thought he found a man he could trust in O'Brien, a link, maybe, to Emmanuel Goldstein, but it was not to be. It was not to be.

Bad news about Stan Winston, too. He was a master of his craft.

RIP to an absolute legend.

SO many people know his work, most of them don't even realise who is behind the magic bought to life in front of them.

His contribution to science fiction exceeds that of many writers in that field. It's sad news.

I think it's rough when any of the masters of FX go. Stan Winston, you'll be missed. RIP

What's your favorite Stan Winston piece? For me, it was the T-800 Terminator...

Although his T2 work is indeed great, I think I'm fondest of his work on Aliens:

Yeah, Aliens was the benchmark IMO.

He did such an amazing job on the Iron Man armour though. Amazing.

Absolutely terrible news. Such an unbelievably imaginative man AND a master of his craft too. A huge loss :(
