Trevor Rabin has composed the wonderfully exciting score that looks back to the era of the classic television show, cleverly incorporating the famous original theme into his trademark contemporary style. Maxwell Smart (Steve Carell) is on a mission to thwart the latest plot for world domination by the evil crime syndicate known as KAOS. When the headquarters of U.S. spy agency Control is attacked and the identities of its agents compromised, the Chief (Alan Arkin) has no choice but to promote his ever-eager analyst Maxwell Smart, who has always dreamt of working in the field alongside stalwart superstar Agent 23 (Dwayne Johnson). Smart is partnered instead with the lovely-but-lethal veteran Agent 99 (Anne Hathaway). Given little field experience and even less time, Smart is armed with nothing but a few spy-tech gadgets and his unbridled enthusiasm must foil the doomsday plans of KAOS head Siegfried (Terence Stamp).

Agreed. 'I Can't Look Away' (1989) was an excellent solo album.

ditto. I'm sure the OST work pays the mortgage(s), but it'd be great to get a new rock album out of him. To be honest, (while I'm a big fan) I've never been too impresses with his soundtrack work. I'm actually a bit surprised he's been asked to do so many!

Yes, most of his soundtracks have gone over my head. Then again I can say that about most modern soundtracks, it's pretty rare these days that I leave a cinema saying "I loved the music in that film".

Me three (or four) on wishing Trevor would get a band and do real music again. Although didn't I read somewhere (here?) that he might be getting back with YES for some kind of project? I can't remember...

P.S. If you like guitar based music soundtracks check out the soundtrack to Bubba Hotep. Hilarious movie and really good rock music written for it. It is one of the few soundtracks I own - actually the only one I bought as a soundtrack because I liked the music. Think I have a few others that I bought only because they had an unreleased song by a band that I liked but that doesn't count.

Trevor is indeed writing with Yes again-whether this leads to anything who knows. Yes have claimed that three 20 minute epics are in the works-whether all will surface or not is a mystery.
I don't know if Trevor is rejoining Yes or just writing. Steve Howe remains very much in Asia, but I believe if Yes continue after Jon's problems clear up, it will only be Steve on guitar. I think both Howe and Rabin are geniuses and seeing them together on the Union tour was something I'll never forget, even if Steve does!
