Connery
Brosnan Moore Craig
Lazenby
Dalton. SOOO very 80s for one thing, plus he is lacking in any charisma.
I am watching my new Ultimate Bond Collection, and I really feel that Dalton was a poor casting choice, possibly done out of desperation because their first choice of Brosnan was tied up in a contract for Remington Steele.

Tonights movie is the Living Daylights, by the way. Thankfully, they only made two with this guy.

I disagree completely. He brought back an edge to the character that Moore had gradually lost. (He couldn't help being "80s," you know. )

False. thanks for playing tho, Jeff.
Moore was the worst.
At this point Craig has a chance to supplant Connery. Lazenby was better than both Moore and Brosnan.
Connery Craig Lazenby Dalton Brosnan Moore
Based on the MOVIES and their Characterization. I loved Moore as a kid, not having seen Connery. But as I aged, and read the books, it was clear to me how far Moore was from Fleming's Bond.

Sorry you don't care for his performance, though, Jeff. I know I recommended him highly, and you're probably disappointed in me.

You are correct that Dalton was the worst. However, your credibility takes a hit by ranking Craig so low.

BTW, you should all know that Barry Nelson was the worst.

I was raised with mr suave and smooth Moore as Bond, so when I saw Dalton in the previews it was hugely disappointing. Especially when I knew they had wanted Brosnan all along and he was my top choice to replace Moore as well. I suppose it's not fair to blame him for being 80s.

Dalton wasn't bad. I don't think they've cast a bad one. Somebody's got to be last.

Those middle 3 are all at the same level, which is why they are close together like that. Moore gains HUGE points for nostalgia or he'd be lower. Connery has gone up and up in my estimation as I've gotten older. After reading Octopussy I never cared about the Bond books and characterizations therein, only the films.

Agreed. Dalton is my least favorite Bond.

They actually wanted Dalton as a replacement for Connery in 1968, when he was only 22 years old. He felt he was too young and turned them down, and they went with George Lazenby instead. Dalton wound up getting the part 18 years later.
You should watch the extras and documentaries in your collection when you have time. There's a ton of fascinating stories in there.

He was wise to turn it down, he was right in that 22 was far too young for the role. I will watch most of the extras down the road. Right now I'm watching one Bond film every night I can until I'm done. I have to do something about my Man With the Golden Gun disc because it's got a fault in it. I wonder if MGM will send me a replacement disc. I don't want to hassle returning the whole set!

I liked "The Living Daylights." It was the last Bond movie based on a piece of fiction written by Ian Flemming for a long time before the Casino Royale remake with Daniel Craig.

Dalton was the only Bond who made me believe that he was capable of killing a man with his hands in record time. Anybody can shoot a guy with a Walther PPK, after all. (Although, to be fair, I have yet to see the new CASINO ROYALE. I hear that Mr. Craig has some chops in that area as well.)

Craig takes the edge of Dalton and cranks it up about four notches. I was so very impressed with Daniel Craig, it isn't even funny. He looked like a bad ass. Sounded like a bad ass. Acted like a bad ass (as Bond). I also like how his hair color was so bland that it seemed to change color depending on the light. Outside he looked blond, inside it looked brown. Perfectly non-descript like the character in the novels.

I also loved the A-Ha theme for "The Living Daylights."
