The expanded reissue, fine, but a tour? I'm dubious. Their last tour ended with Debbie Harry disbanding the group, and even hinting that it was because they had lost too many members. The sound was not the same without keyboardist Jimmy Destri. No doubt Harry,Chris Stein & Clem Burke will be on hand for the reunion, but it won't be a full reunion of the "Parallel Lines" group. The group will never again speak to Frank Infante. It has to do with a plagarism lawsuit against Infante & the group over the song "I Know But I Don't Know".

People still buy from those record clubs? I wouldn't be caught dead with one of their cds in my collection. I've never had one, but aren't they inferior in mastering AND artwork?

I use yourmusic.com and I have not found that to be true. Although I mainly use them for Blue Note reissues now nothing I ever got from them was inferior in any way.

Hmm. I remember people having lps in the 80's from there and there was a real lacking in the sleves and notes and such, so I never wanted the "fakes".

Sometimes the BMG versions are actually better than what is available at retail, especially if you prefer jewel cases. Although this is no longer as common as it once was, I've gotten several releases from BMG that were packaged in jewel cases that at the time were otherwise only available in cardboard packaging. Sting's The Soul Cages is one that comes to mind.

Not to perpetuate this tangent, but I've always felt that way about club releases, too, at least as far as CDs go. Shortly after I started buying CDs back in '86, I tried the club thing for a while. But I was really unhappy with the quality of a couple of their pressings, and I hated the fact that they marred the discs and artwork with their own logos. I know I'm in the minority, but I can't help but view club CDs as inferior -- in collector's value, at least, if not in quality.

Glad to hear it wasn't just me feeling that way. I despise those record clubs. Are they still 10 for a penny?

Midnightwind, it sounds like you're thinking of the [bigred]OLD[/bigred] Record Club Of America. They were something like 10 for a penny, & in the days of vinyl (they were gone before cd's) their records were thinner then store bought; they used less vinyl in the pressings to lower cost & their records were indeed inferior.

On the other hand, I was amazed about 3 or 4 years back their warehouse of stock surfaced & was put up for sale on the internet at outlandish prices which it appeared that they got as titles quickly sold out. We're talking near $100 each on a number of titles.

These days the only main differences are the irritating BMG Club logo & much lower pricing then store bought.

You mean "than" store bought. I get it, but I don't want them.

You forgot a comma after "mean."

Will you cut it out now, please?

I've still got the picture disc, as well as an import LP on clear vinyl, and the Mobile Fidelity LP, if I'm not mistaken. Not to mention the DCC gold CD, and the previous CD reissue, with the bonus tracks. :surrender:

...and yet you passed on the Ted Nugent. You're getting inconsistent Jimbo and the few remaining record companies aren't happy about that! :soapbox:

Debbie just made a point in a interview a few months ago that the Blondie thing was over. They had a great time but it was time to close the book and now this....

I shoulda said I'm done buying records. Still holding on to a ton of vinyl (more likely several tons), although I'm seriously considering trying to sell some of it off, while it's still worth something. :ohyes:
