Killing characters with lots of histroy = Inept writing, IMO.
...and they'll bring him back. Maybe not the Didio regime, but guaranteed, down the road, J'onn will return. Let's just save the trouble and not kill these guys/girls! If I were to take over DC, the first thing I'd do is bring back Sue and Ralph, then put a moratorium on rape, dismemberment, and killing of the main good guys (or BY the good guys, where applicable) in every alleged all-ages superhero book.
