Well, Billboard just answered my question...... http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/art ... 1003728188 Elvis Costello's next solo studio album, curiously dubbed "Momofuku," will arrive April 22 via Lost Highway on CD and double-vinyl. No other details have been released about the follow-up to 2005's "The Delivery Man." Since then, Costello recorded "The River in Reverse" with pianist Allen Toussaint and supervised the first wave of his back catalog reissues through Universal. The most recent of those, "This Year's Model," arrived March 4. At least it's not a re-release.....(for now anyway, I'm sure there will be a 10th, 25th and 30th anniversary edition down the road....

It's the same article (same URL), apparently Billbored updated it to remove the CD references. No biggie, I'm sure they'll release a CD down the line.

Hello:
CBK
I just got a one sheet from UMD (who distributes Lost Highway). It is coming out on CD on 05-06-08.
They are going to maket it first as if it is only vinyl. The vinyl does come with a coupon for a digital download of the CD. Not sure what bit rate yet.
Bar code is 602517658335.

Leave it to a 007 to uncover such vital information.

I'm annoyed by this: I refuse to buy vinyl again, and I don't appreciate buying downloads -- I like to OWN something when I spend money. So I have to wait 2 weeks to get a CD of this? Yet another instance of EC showing disrespect towards his fans -- as if re-re-re-reissuing his catalogue 4 times wasn't enough proof!

This reminds me of the early days of buying CDs, when sometimes the CD release would come a week or so after the vinyl. Fortunately for me, this was short-lived. I think all formats should be available on the same day so that people can choose whichever format they like.

I still know very few details about this, but I do know I must buy this. I'm a huge Costello fan as well as a huge Rilo Kiley/Jenny Lewis fan and if this info is correct........
Jenny Lewis sings on 7 of the 12 tracks on the new Elvis Costello album Momofuku. Johnathan Rice also plays guitar/sings on several tracks. Right now, it's a vinyl-only release, but a cd version is due out on May 6.
I got that info from a Rilo Kiley blog and the person who posted it didn't name their source, so I don't know if it is correct. I have heard several mentions of Lewis and Costello duetting for a song on HER new solo cd to be released later this year so that gives me hope that this info is correct.

Hello: I just got a copy of the LP and have listened to it a couple of times. Very solid record. Guests include Jenny Lewis, David Hildalgo, Jonathan Rice, Jonathan Wilson, Tennessee Thomas I think my favorite cut is My Three Sons (no, not the TV theme). My second favorite would be Flutter & Wow (cool song title seeing as how it is on LP before the CD comes out) One song "Song With Rose" he co wrote witb Rosanne Cash. Another cool song "Pardon Me Madam, My Name is Eve" he co wrote with Loretta Lynn. Pretty Rockin' LP if you ask me. Rebel_007

Hi, Rebel_007, stylistically, how is this one? I'm always interested in new Elvis, but like to know what I'm getting into before I hear it. Is it like "Delivery Man" or "When I Was Cruel"?
Thanks!

Jimmy:
I would say a combination of both releases. There are songs on this LP that could fit on either Delivery Man or When I Was Cruel.
Lots of songs that are more rock oreinted.

Straight ahead rock or the more disjointed rock of When I Was Cruel?

I've not purchased this title as I'm not a huge Elvis fan HOWEVER I LOVE the vinyl LP with a free download concept. I find myself heading straight to the LP New Releases rack at my locally owned, independent record store. I get a great pressing to play on my Thorens turntable and a CD to play in my car and the title on my computor to play when I'm working. The LP/download concept is very exciting and the fellow who runs he store where I shop told me his vinyl sales are up over 30% in the last year, partially has a result of it.

Thanks, Rebel_007! I wasn't a fan of "Delivery Man", and would prefer something more along the lines of "When I Was Cruel". With his releases, as long as there's a couple of gems on it, it'll hold me. For me, "When I Was Cruel" had more of a nod to his older work.

Too bad he didn't release the version he performed live on the Costello/Nieve tour that preceded the album - just Costello, an electric guitar, and well-timed feedback. A much different version made the album, unfortunately.
