I just saw Foreigner at the Canyon Club in Agoura last night. It was a fund raiser for a local school and there were probably less than 200 people there. Our table was right next to the stage. They were great and played for 1 1/2 hours. Ears are still ringing. One of the best things though was I was the high bidder on a guitar signed by the entire band. I didn't know that Jason Bonham was the drummer. He was terrific. Fun night all around.

Yeah, they kick ass live now. They've been drawing pretty good crowds recently (about 1,000 to 3,000 seat venues) and also do package tours. Not sure if the attendance was so low because it was a fund raiser and not a normal show or not. Some people are upset Mick Jones carried on, and I understand that, but they really do put on a damn good concert.

Because it was a fundraiser the tickets were very expensive. The venue normally only holds 1,000 (standing room) and when you add tables for dinner taking up space, it was only going to hold 200-250 anyway. It turns out that they played the same place the night before for a regular concert. Don't know what they charged or the attendance. By the way, the new singer, Kelly Hansen sounds just like Lou Gramm. You wouldn't know the difference.

I've seen them with Kelly singing three times now and he is amazing. You can tell he's more of a Hard Rock singer than Gramm, but he does a superb job. Lou Gramm is a legend of course, but the new Foreigner live DVD "Alive And Rockin' " despite that horrid title, absolutely rocks.

It is a good cd. All that's missing on it is Double Vision which they started the set with. You can get an autographed cd from the web site and they also sold it at the show for $20 w/$5 going to the school. The cd has a different keyboard player than the one in the band now.

Your not kidding, this CD is a killer!
I had no interest in this initially but Steve at my local indie wouldn't let me leave the store w/o it!
Man, the band is tight and the new singer is perfect for this band.
As stated, Lou is a legend but health problems plague him. Let's face it, Rock is a young man's game and glad to see Mick Jones built a new band with the talents of the old!

How many original members are left in the current touring band? I passed on them earlier this year because I'd heard it wasn't the original singer.

Mick Jones, who's not exactly a young man either.

True, the group he was in at the time even opened up for the Beatles in Gernamy once. So there you go.. :ohyes:

Mick Jones is 63. Lou Gramm is 57.

I bought that live CD, and listened to it once, then filed it away. Sorry, it's just not Foreigner, and I don't even mean that just because Lou is no longer with them. I even bought "Unusual Heat" when Jones replaced Gramm, with Johnathan Edwards (whatever happened to him?) and I did enjoy that. Sadly, they're nothing more then a self tribute band now...

I think we're talking about different things here. I know of no CD from the Germany show that is on the DVD and that absolutely kicks ass, tribute band or not.
I do know the "Extended Versions" CD from 2006 also available as "Live In '05" on the band's website. That's good but nowhere near as good as the DVD which I got for 9.99 at Wal-Mart and it is worth it.
If there's a live CD from that show on the "Alive And Rockin' " DVD, I must find that!
And, to beat a very dead horse, I understand the "it's not Foreigner" thing, I really do, but I feel this lineup is too good to pass on. The version of "Head Games" on the DVD blows away any version the old band ever did, though of course, the old band wrote and recorded it damn well too, I know that!
