From Blabbermouth.net: WHITESNAKE mainman David Coverdale has posted the following message on the band's web site: "It is true that tour dates for 2008 are currently being put in place. We will likely start in New Zealand (Rock2Wgtn festival in Wellington) for a one-off in March. We are exploring the possibility of nipping over to Australia for a pint and a show, or two...but, at this time there is nothing positive to offer you. It looks very likely we will be having the distinct pleasure of returning to South and Central America in May, before starting our European run. "We have some absolutely splendid stuff planned... I can promise. "The U.S. still manages to elude us, for whatever reason, but, as always, we don't take no for an answer... so, we are still working toward something in my adopted homeland later in the year. In fact, we will try to go anywhere and everywhere we can to present our music to those who want to be bitten by the snake. "The album is done and has been delivered to the record company as their Christmas present. We're very happy with it, as I have reported to you throughout the year of creating it. I feel it has all the elements WHITESNAKE can offer, and hopefully a little more." The new WHITESNAKE album, "Good To Be Bad", scheduled for release in the spring of 2008, will be their 10th studio record and will feature the exceptional percussive talents of Chris Frazier, the latest member to grace the ranks of the band alongside Doug Aldrich on guitar, who also co-wrote and co-produced the album with David Coverdale and Michael McIntyre, Timothy Drury on keyboards, Uriah Duffy on bass, and Reb Beach on guitar. Chris takes over the drum chair from Tommy Aldridge, who earlier in the year left to pursue alternate musical adventures. WHITESNAKE's video for the studio song "Ready to Rock" can be viewed below. The track is one of four previously unreleased cuts that appear on WHITESNAKE's latest live record, entitled "Live… In the Shadow of the Blues", which was issued in Europe in November 2006 via Steamhammer/SPV Records.

Are you serious??? Hmmm...well that would be interesting to hear. could be cool...could be a train wreck. Morbid curiousity and hope are a part of my interest. We'll see.

I like Coverdale, but like Chrissie Hynde in the Pretenders, DC would seem to be the only constant in "Whitesnake".

Here's the track listing from Blabbermouth.net:
Legendary hard rock band WHITESNAKE will release its new album, "Good to be Bad", at the end of April in Europe via SPV/Steamhammer. The group's first studio album in a decade features "11 new, slamming WHITESNAKE songs which are guaranteed to take their place alongside their multi-million selling catalog," according to a press release.
Commented frontman David Coverdale: "The new album contains all the elements I enjoy about WHITESNAKE, and more. I can hear moments that take me back to the bluesy, early years of the band all the way through the band's musical history to fully embrace the more electric aspects of where we are now, as a band. I'm thrilled with it and can hardly wait to unleash it on an unsuspecting public! If this is indeed the last WHITESNAKE studio record, then I'm happy to finish like this. It was a labor of love making this record...a joy... and I'm still enjoying listening to it. Can't be bad!"
The new songs, written by Coverdale and guitarist Doug Aldrich (who also co-produced the album with Coverdale and Michael McIntyre) provide a good balance of eight rocking tracks and three ballads. Coverdale feels it's the first "real" WHITESNAKE album in almost 20 years, commenting "It's very butch. Very muscular..."
"Good to be Bad" track listing:
01. Call On Me 02. Can You Hear The Wind Blow? 03. Best Years 04. All I Want All I Need 05. Good To Be Bad 06. All For Love 07. Summer Rain 08. Lay Down Your Love 09. A Fool In Love 10. Got What You Need 11. 'Till The End Of Time
WHITESNAKE will be take to the road with DEF LEPPARD, playing a series of co-headline shows across the UK, major festivals and headliner shows in summer of 2008. The internationally renowned, multi-platinum band will be featuring songs from David Coverdale's colorful career, including the hits and new material from "Good to be Bad".
This is an opportunity to experience the ultimate lineup and celebrate 30 years of WHITESNAKE, who are: Doug Aldrich on guitar; Reb Beach on guitar; Timothy Drury on keyboards; Uriah Duffy on bass; Chris Frazier on drums, and, of course, the inimitable David Coverdale on vocals.
Said Coverdale: "I can't wait to get back on stage. After being in the studio for most of 2007, I am most definitely ready to let off some steam. The front row should definitely be prepared!"
Upcoming WHITESNAKE shows:
Jun. 02 - BA-Banja Luka - Borik Hall Jun. 03 - HR-Split - Tvrdjava Gripe Jun. 06 - SE-Sölvesborg - Sweden Rock Festival Jun. 08 - FI-Tampere - Sauna Open Air Jun. 10 - IS-Reykjavik - Laugardalsholl Jun. 12 - NO-Oslo - Spektrum Scene Jun. 13 - DK-Copenhagen - Vega Jun. 27 - B-Dessel - Graspop Metal Meeting
WHITESNAKE UK tour with DEF LEPPARD:

David Coverdale: "It's very butch. Very muscular..." Hmmmmm..logic tells me that if you want to appeal to your fan base of heavy metal heads...You do not say that your music is.....'butch and muscular'. nope. You might as well say: "It will bend you and spank your lil fanny pink!"(bad sign..bad sign...)

Whitesnake is a brand name with interchangable parts. They need Bernie Marsden and Mickey Moody to have any interest for me.

I love the old stuff and Moody and Marsden were great, but they haven't had that bluesy/R&B style since 1982. There's no chance of that ever happening again. I'd be up for it if it did though. The new lineup is killer and Doug Aldrich is easily one of the best players around-check out his solo from the new live DVD "Live In The Still Of The Night"-I'm sure it's on You Tube somewhere. If you're a fan of the old stuff-check out the new remasters-they sound great and really show what a damn good band they were in the old days. Micky Moody was definitely one of the best slide players around.

Loved the Moody/Marsden 'Snake. Check out "Company of Snakes" if you get a chance. I took a chance on them when I found the CD in a budget bin and was shocked at how good it is.
It's only interchangable parts because that's what we've been forced to put up with. The original line-up was great but everything since Sykes was in the band has just been a tribute to that 1987 lineup. I hope those two patch things up before they're too old to walk on stage.
By the way, Tommy Aldridge just left Whitesnake to rejoin and tour with Sykes' Thin Lizzy.

Yeah, the article mentions Aldridge left-what a shame. And, that's NOT Thin Lizzy. What a joke calling that sham Thin Lizzy. No Phil, no Lizzy. I saw "Lizzy" open up for Deep Purple in 2004 and they were basically a Sykes solo band doing metallized versions of the classics. Not bad, but definitely not Thin Lizzy in any way, shape or form. Back to Whitesnake though, it was always Coverdale's band and this current lineup is most certainly a rival, if not better than the 1987 touring version, which of course didn't even record that album. I'd love a reunion of the vintage Whitesnake from 1979-1982 but I don't think Coverdale is interested sadly. I'll still pick this new effort up.

I've mentioned this before, but I'd love to see Coverdale & Glenn Hughes work together again.

I believe it will be, as most SPV releases come out here, but I'm not 100% sure.

It looks like this does have a US release after all-April 22. There will also be a 2 CD edition, with a second CD of 4 bonus tracks, none of which seem significant. From Blabbermouth.net: WHITESNAKE will release "Good To Be Bad" through SPV/Steamhammer in Germany on April 18, the rest of Europe on April 21 and in North America on April 22. In addition to the regular jewel-case version, a limited-edition two-disc set will contain an extra CD in a cardboard sleeve, as well as a poster, photocard and sticker.
The track listing for the limited-edition two-disc version of "Good To Be Bad" is as follows:
CD (jewel case):
01. Best Years (5:16) 02. Can You Hear The Wind Blow (5:02) 03. Call On Me (5:01) 04. All I Want All I Need (5:42) 05. Good To Be Bad (5:13) 06. All For Love (5:14) 07. Summer Rain (6:15) 08. Lay Down Your Love (6:01) 09. A Fool In Love (5:14) 10. Got What You Need (4:14) 11. 'Til The End Of Time (5:32)
Bonus CD (cardboard sleeve):
01. Summer Rain (acoustic version) (5:21) 02. All I Want All I Need (radio edit) (3:58) 03. Take Me With You (live version) (7:51) 04. Ready To Rock (enhanced video) (4:19)
The cover artwork for "Good to be Bad", can be viewed at this location.
Commented frontman David Coverdale: "The new album contains all the elements I enjoy about WHITESNAKE, and more. From Billboard.com:
After a decade-plus gap between studio albums, Whitesnake makes its debut on SPV with "Good To Be Bad," due April 22.
"The album contains all the elements that I enjoy about Whitesnake," frontman David Coverdale tells Billboard.com. "The responses I've been getting are that the album is a heady cocktail that embraces the whole history of Whitesnake within one album. Which was not planned, but fortunately, I'll drink two of those cocktails!"
Joining Coverdale on "Good To Be Bad" are several longtime Whitesnake touring members, such as guitarists Doug Aldrich (Dio) and Reb Beach (Winger), bassist Uriah Duffy (Christina Aguilera), keyboardist Timothy Drury (Don Henley) and drummer Chris Frazier (Steve Vai). "I'm thrilled with these musicians," gushes Coverdale. "They've lasted longer with me than any other lineup, which speaks volumes. Great players."
While plans for a U.S. tour are still being firmed up, Coverdale and company are about to launch a European co-headlining tour with another '80s hit-making machine, Def Leppard. "Both Joe [Elliot] and I are old friends. We knew it was going to do well, but even we're surprised how incredibly successful it's become," he says. "We've added more shows, because all the arenas pretty much sold out three months before the shows."
Also upcoming for Coverdale will be a remastered three-disc set to mark Whitesnake's 30th anniversary, which he says will "embrace the beginning right up until now -- including some Coverdale/Page and solo Coverdale material." A live Whitesnake DVD is in the works as well.
And just what was it that jolted Coverdale out of retirement to rock once more? "I was asked to tour with the Scorpions in 2003. I went out for two months and ended up coming back nine months later, with a smile a mile wide and a couple of camels loaded with cash," he says. "My wife said, 'Oh, this is a good job -- why don't you do this six months out of the year?' So I thought this is an opportunity to keep me happy and make other people happy, too."

Vinyl-cool indeed! I'm ordering the CD from Amazon-it's only 9.99 and includes the 7 bonus tracks seperately which is a great price. I'm assuming this will not be a sale item at BB or CC.

This band kills live and I'm looking forward to hearing this. This has been and always will be David Coverdale's band, so I don't get the turd thing. If this album sucks, I'll definitely have no problems in saying so.
