http://www.nme.com/news/the-futureheads/30787 The Futureheads record new album in three weeks
Aug 30, 2007
The Futureheads have almost completed work on their third album.
The band have been working on the as-yet untitled follow-up to 2006's 'News And Tributes' in Andalusia with producer Youth.
Writing on his blog on the band's official website, guitarist Ross Millard described the process as "our best recording experience yet".
He wrote: "We've been as busy as we ever have over the last six months - we started the year writing and rehearsing for the third album, and, after playing some of our best shows in Austria, Italy, Russia, Germany, and Sweden we jetted off to Granada in Spain to make the new record.
"And I'm pleased to say it's pretty much finished!"
And Millard revealed that sessions for the LP were wrapped up in a speedy manner.
He said: "We spent three weeks (yes, just THREE WEEKS - record time for the Futuremen!) in Andalusia with Youth making the as-yet-untitled (of course!) third album! It was our best recording experience yet because it was the first one that hasn't involved any kind of nervous breakdown/exhaustion/bleak-Yorkshire-farmhouse-in-the-middle-of-winter! The energy is back, and the songs are tighter, faster and, dare I say it, a bit more playful than before.
"We've changed the way we write a little bit - I've been writing songs for Barry (Hyde) to sing, which he's taken to like Ol' Blue Eyes himself - Dave (Hyde)'s got some riffs in there, Jaff's realized his dream of becoming the ultimate back-up singer - it's all going well so far!"
The record is expected sometime in 2008.
It's not currently clear which label it will be released on, after the band left 679 Recordings last year.

http://www.nme.com/news/the-futureheads/35026 The Futureheads urge fans to spark 'revolution' against the music industry
Mar 10, 2008
The Futureheads have urged fans to buy their new single 'The Beginning Of The Twist' in order to prove a point to the music industry.
Appearing in a video on YouTube, guitarist Ross Millard and singer and guitarist Barry Hyde, explained the idea behind releasing their new album and single on their own record label, Nul Records.
Hyde said: "We're trying to prove that bands don't need to be exploited by record companies in order to make music. We just want to make pure music for your enjoyment.”
Urging fans to buy the single, Millard added: “If we can get this single in the charts on our own terms with the help of our fanbase then that is a real achievement and a real message to the dinosaurs in the music industry that their tried-and-tested techniques aren’t working anymore and the future of music lies with the fans and the artists.”
'The Beginning Of The Twist' is released today (March 10), while The Futureheads’ third album ‘This Is Not The World’ is released in May.
Here's the promo video for "The Beginning Of The Twist": And here's the CD single: UK two track CD pressing of the first single pulled from the British Post-Rockers' 2008 album, their third overall. One of the best bands to come out of the U.K.'s new New Wave of the early 2000s, the Futureheads take their cue from classic British Punk acts like the Buzzcocks, Wire, and the Jam. Their short, brisk Punk melodies are accented by a truly novel and, at times, quite complex approach to vocal arrangements. Features 'Beginning Of The Twist' plus 'Get Out Today'. Nul Records. 1.
