I liked the idea of Sasquatch taking on the Wrecking Crew all by himself, although I think that he should have faired much better than he did. 'Squatch has fought the Hulk for prolonged periods, he should be able to handle that gaggle of clowns... and if he had to lose, he should have still faired better.
If the purpose of this book was to get us to want the original Alpha Flight back, it succeeded. Having Alpha Flight composed of characters whose iconography is not related to Canada in some way has killed various incarnations of the title, imo. While I like the idea of a team of "stand-ins" like USAgent, Beta Ray Bill and Arachne, I think they would be better off in a title that has nothing to do with Alpha Flight.

I really wanted to like this book.
But I just couldn't take to it. By the end, it was the last book of the week I'd read. I didn't like Kolins' art in it, and Oeming's story just didn't do anything for me. At first I was disappointed that it was only going to be a mini. Now I think I'm kinda glad.

I did like the portrayal of the Canadians looking at America's superhero Civil War as an overreaction, however. Those wacky Canadians just don't understand us, do they?

Kolins' art was okay. I actually like his more cartoony approach. It's a refreshing departure from the Brian Hitch-type "realistic" approach to comic book art.

I was happy enough with the art, but the story interested me less and less with every issue. Too little connection with the Alpha Flight of old - or even with actual Canadians. Yawn.

Aside from the obvious ($$$), I'm surprised they published this thing. It was crap.

I bought and read the whole series, and for the life of me I can't remember what happened in it. That's not a good sign.

I think the artwork was the main selling point of the series, not so much the story.

It doesn't matter anyway. The now deceased Alpha Flight were all Skrulls. The real heroes, the original team, has been held captive off-planet.
One can hope.

I'm still hoping.
I randomly found this thread. I thought, page 56, fifth thread... and voila! Now I'm on to page 74, thread #8.
