It's also being discussed on the IDW boards, Transformers Fan Art section, stickied for now under 'Reckoning.'
I had to be a little cryptic on the artist. I can now say it's Robby Musso, who does various Transformers work for IDW, and is currently drawing the new Speed Racer for them.
He's a hell of an artist, and he absolutely nailed this piece. For anyone interested in up and coming talent, give his stuff a try, he's a fantastic artist. I'll copy and paste my comments on the IDW thread on it.
For anyone interested, here's some background on it.
Basically, in every continuity, Prowl's been fairly constant. He's a dick.
He's always focused on the end goal, and he doesn't often care about the people in the way of that goal. (not overtly)
I wanted to 'humanise' him slightly.
It's based on a scene from the first War Within. Jazz and Prowl meet Grimlock in what was that general area. That fascinated me, as it's not often we get background info like that, and especially not from Prowl. In the scene, its described as 'thousands of resonating crystals floating in methane.' Umm....k. I'm not artistic, I have no idea what that looks like. To be honest, I thought that would be a dealbreaker with Robbie. I thought that would be a difficult thing to draw and visualise....but Robbie was EXCITED about it. He told me he had a great idea for it, and damned if he wasn't right.
He drew the hell out of this. The art, the colours, the letters. It's all amazing work.
Robby nailed it, just absolutely nailed it. I want that third panel of Prowl as an avatar, its beautiful.
And thanks to anyone who read it.
So yeah, opinions welcomed. Especially criticism, as I'd love to be take any pointers away that can improve my writing. But frankly, I have trouble reading it when I have such gorgeous artwork to drool over!
