Nope. Too many guffaws and surprises from IMWAN in the past. All food and drink is now required to be at least 15 feet away from my computer.

Warren Ellis is supposed to be doing a New Universe book. This would be after the 5th Week Event that the above image is from. Don't think it has a name yet.

I didn't know John Byrne had returned to Marvel.
Actually, I think it's called, "Really, The New Universe Was Total Crap... Aren't You Glad We Hired A British Writer To Make It Semi-Readable."

So that small number of readers who liked the New Universe will be alienated by Ellis' take on it, and his version will bring in enough "new" readers to make it successful? Right; that's gonna work.

Come on, it's the New Universe... like anyone liked it.
And didn't Byrne do exactly that in the 80s

Uhm, I have a full run of "Kickers, Inc". Is that close enough?

I'm still trying to figure out why they'd want to incorporate Kicking.

I didn't like it, but I know of at least two people (other than those who have posted here) who did.
That said, this is a gamble, the only kind either of the big two seems to make these days: that enough fans of the original version of a character will stay for the remade version that the new people brought in by the change will make it economically more viable. But lately, that trick doesn't work.

I started out reading all the titles. Merc and Kickers didn't make it past issue 1, Justice issue 3. Spitfire and Nightmask, like issue 5 and Starbrand 9.
But I *loved* DP7 and Psi-Force (esp. after Ron Lim took over drawing)
Wasn't Byrne hired to 'shake things up'? I thought the whole Pitt development was great, the War that followed just okay.

Only read the brazilian versions of the New Universe comics. They were all cancelled before the stories were over and so I never had a chance to read the later issues (except fo Byrne's Starbrand, which was reprinted years later in another comic).
I would love it if Marvel reprinted these comics… Some of them were stinkers, sure, but there's also lots of great stuff.

I enjoyed Starbrand and DP7...i think Ellis will do a good job on the relaunch/reboot...some cool concepts that were touched upon but never really came to fruition in the New U..so this may be cool.
Ill even be checking out some of the one shots by various creators out in April (or May)
Joao - I hear Marvel is indeed going to reprint some of the "classic" new universe runs to coincide with the new title...so your in luck!

NU was in a couple of issues of Exiles, I think 3 and 4 months ago.
Then they bounced off to the 2099 universe. Which I thought was interesting, because it means pretty explicitly that 2099 is not the official future of the MU, but a parallel universe where they're 90-odd years ahead of the MU.
