Limited edition 2-CD album set - [title]'Hvarf-Heim'[/title] has 2 titles because it is in effect 2 separate, but complementary, entities; open it one way and it's 'Hvarf' featuring mainly unreleased rarities from their back-pages such as the previously unreleased 'Salka', 'Hljómalind' & 'Í Gær' alongside re-workings of two tracks from 'Von'; open it the other way and it's 'Heim', a 6-track live acoustic record, comprising delicate new unplugged versions of some of their finest moments, which have never been performed in this way before, presented in a fold-out digipak sleeve.

The entire tour was filmed and provides a unique insight into one of the world's most inscrutable bands while exploring their natural habitat like never before, with performances in deserted fish factories, at far-flung community halls, in sylvan fields, darkened caves, canyons, and fjords. Limited deluxe edition is individually numbered and includes 100 page bound book. Standard edition is amaray-sized digipak with 8-page booklet.

Sigur Ros announce screenings of documentary

Sigur Ros have announced a number of theatrical screenings of their recently released documentary ‘Heima’.

The movie follows the band as they play a series of free shows in their home country of Iceland over the summer 2006.

All the screenings will feature surround sound audio.

‘Heima’ was released on DVD on November 20 and the release includes the film along with a second disc of live performances from all over Iceland, and there is a deluxe edition of the package that includes a 112 page hard bound photo book.

The screenings will take place at:

Sigur Ros to take over YouTube

Sigur Ros will take over the YouTube homepage with a full-length screening of their documentary, 'Heima', tomorrow (March 7).

The documentary was filmed during the home country shows the band played in 2007. The band performed in venues as varied as fish factories, community halls and caves, filming as they went along.

The Icelandic quartet will be the first band ever to have a full-length DVD screened on the video broadcast website.

The band will also select ten other videos, as well as screening a message for fans filmed as they take a break from recording of their new album in Reykjavik.

FWIW, I'm pretty sure the deluxe version of Heima is now out-of-print...

Amazon's listing above says there are 3 copies currently left in stock. Maybe the last 3, period?

DAMNIT!

I missed this. While I'm sure the doc can be found easily enough online, I would have liked to partake in the official promotion. This band creates such an otherwordly sound, it's always interesting to see video of live performances.
